Re: 'Soft Sigh' sightings.
I think you totally missed the point of the thread, Estaar. Is it so difficult not taking things too seriously? I can't see how this thread is bad-spirited at all and I'm positive it's not meant at all to make anyone feel bad.
I'm still learning English myself and although I make tons and tons of mistakes and my grammar gets weird easily, I've never felt belittled by it at all, nor for my usually long, boring, too detailed emoting, nor for the times when I have to play from the phone and things get cut down. There'll be players who like my rp'ing and others who don't, but in general terms everyone around has the patience to fill in my blanks, get along with my flaws and teach me a whole lot, besides of providing me hours of fun and entertainment.
When I disagree with something or don't like something, I rarely think it's done from an ill will but from a diferent way of thinking, and I'm sure the purpose of the thread was only making some fun at our own expense and not deprecate anyone.
I agree with Chroma in that there's native speakers who emote short and non-native who like long, descriptive emotes and lots of people who do both, I see it only as styles of playing and I don't think anyone was suggesting one was better or worse than another.
And after a long boring post without one single emote, I need to *tilt my head* and *roll my eyes*, because it's trendy!

I try to post one of these in nearly every post. Then give longer more detailed emote when time and situation permits.
When you're falling off a cliff you might as well try to fly.

I find my emotes are more descriptive when I'm sitting in front of a computer where I can type. You're going to have a richer RP experience with me if I'm at my computer vs. playing on my phone (which tends to be more and more lately). It's hard enough as is to put out a half decent statement when using the phone, let alone add in all the wonderful emotion behind it.

Oh yeah, nothing but one liners from me on a phone, and you're lucky to get any emotes at all since astericks are hidden two screens away.
When it's time to retire this phone I'm seriously considering one with a slide-out keyboard, just for Cantr.

This, especially now that my fancy phone's screen is broken, and I'm stuck with my old phone, where it is a pain to write anything. Not that I normally do very detailed emotes, mind you, that's reserved for one character only, and only with certain people she interacts. I don't have time or patience for all that.

Re: 'Soft Sigh' sightings.
This might turn into exactly what I did not want. I was just hoping for a humorous counterpoint to the long emotes that some of us use, its a rp forum after all. Much like somebody decided to create a 'sim praise' thread in response to the 'rp praise'. It was not intended to be an indictment of anyone and I will take the opportunity to publicly apologize to Estaar and anyone else who might find offense from this thread.
We're here to have fun and I have known this game to make people (present company included), laugh, cry, happy, angry or a myriad of other emotions. It signifies an emotional investment if someone feels anything other than ambivalence towards what goes on within the cantr mundo.
If the feelings continue to bruise, I will close the thread.

Okay, that was a combo. Long emote with a soft sigh.

Casts a glance toward the parking lot and sits against the soon-to-be a wall stones, scribbling something*"

4240-4.16: a woman in her sixties says: "Meat is like the best-tasting stuff I've ever eaten. It's just so.... meaty.... *If cartoonish waterfalls of drool could run from her mouth, they would. But this is Cantr, not a cartoon, so she just dreamily stares at the meat she just picked up with a dreamy grin on her face, and only a sliver of drool escapes from the corner of her mouth. She maintains this image for a moment, and then stuffs the meat into her face much like the way Cookie Monster would eat cookies, only much less messily because who would want to waste such good meat? Not she, apparently. It is gone in a matter of seconds.*"

Hahaha.... I think I know this woman and a couple of her identical altwins.

My characters seem to be rather prone to *head tilt*-ing. There's also been quite a bit of lip-biting among my characters lately.

Re: 'Soft Sigh' sightings.
Its difficult to always be as inspired as the carnivore above and a nice balance is okay I think. I used to be known for long emotes (but not as good as that!) and I cut it down a bit because it was just not getting response in kind. Then its also situational. I bit lips, nails, fingers etc; sometimes even my own chars. I was hoping that both kinds of emotes might be posted here, I just could not resist the alliteration of the thread title.
Perhaps it should have been about emotes in general.

I'm still not really sure what this thread is about.....
