If your characters were born in an English area and never met a Spanish person (English and Spanish areas have not yet met to knowledge) then they don't know Spanish. To your English character the Spanish character would be speaking gibberish and wouldn't understand even though you might. It goes vice versa. So the characters would have to find a way to teach each other to communicate. I can think of a few ways off the top of my head. I don't think characters should suddenly understand or speak another language right after they meet someone of a different language. Your characters have to learn.

Rabek Jeris wrote:What determines spawn locations? Is it a totally random location? Is it one of a few set locations? Is it random but only if there are X players there? Is it pointless to begin a city somewhere that isn't currently spawning, since no-one will probably go there because they'll be at a spawn city instead?

Thank you for your time.

As far as I know, people-centric spawning is still not implemented for the smaller language communities (i. e. every language except English and Dutch). Characters speaking those languages will wind up at one of a few set locations. At least that's what the language statistics say.

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if all characters of one language died? Where would the next character of that language go?

That is one of those other conditions. When it can't be resolved where to place a character it default back to the previous system of spawn locations.

Too bad, I was going to kill all the (insert language here) speakers and make the server crash due to divide by zero errors or something. I hoped at least to make it impossible for people to start characters in that language.

No, not really. But it was an idea.

Yeah, but i would think carrots are in different language to there eyes and would say that, and since you can't point, and if you do doing the * thing then you they would understand and so on......maybe carrots might work but i don't see how they can learn a whole language
I was not intoxicated while I wrote this.
