Yes, I was still debating in my head whether or not to have that, but I suppose so.

So, an optional on or off option at the same place where you can change account info, the email would only "you've been whispered to by so and so," a link to www.cantr.net, and a request to unsub if you aren't coming back, if a player has been whispered to after they last logged on, and it's been more than 5 days since they logged on?

Can we also have an email to tell players when their account is about to be unsubbed automatically?

Let's send an email out also if you're attacked and damaged for more than 10%.

Maybe just general email notifications for whatever circumstances you want.

Yes it could also be done for hunger.

But about the whisper to someone going to e mail. I would like that to already say what is whispered to that char. I think that might be more useful to get the player to check in.

Yeah, I think Arenti's right here, since it'll be optionable.

To summarize and specify:

An email is sent to people inactive for X days if they have at least one char who within that time has received an event of the following kind:

- Whisper
- Damage of Y% from animals
- Being attacked by someone
- Being dragged
- Hunger exceeds X%

The email will be sent no more often than Z days in between, and will summarize these events per character, much like the daily event report, but severly filtered.

The email should contain a link to opt out from future emails of this kind, something that should also be avalable to toggle on the player settings page.

Did I get it right? Forget anything?

Warning through e mail that when you're char is past a certain % of hunger might be useful I think.

What about when your char arrives in a town or docks to a harbor.

I say yes to EchoMan's post. Perhaps hunger could be notified after 50%?

I wouldn't think arriving in a town or docking would need to be notified. That usually takes less than 5 days. If someone else is taking you there, you at least have the dragging notification.

And will hunger be notified every day to e mail after the 50 % is passed?

We don't want to spam our players I think. :)

Well you know me, I always like to try. But yes I agree. Its not to annoy the players after all. Its to help.

I approve of Echoman's summary. We'd need to require valid emails before this was set up, though.

Umm isn't it needed to give e mail when someone signs up?

There's no verification of the addresses validity. I don't know how people find out their accounts are active without it, but there were enough bogus addresses to get us listed as a bulk spammer for a week after the game up messages were sent.
