Hey! I made a character based on my cat (kitten)! I wonder if this is common...I thought it was weird.

Considering that animals have quite a variety of personalities, I don't see it weird at all. To be honest, I think it would be quite interesting to play a personality based off a pet, and even more curious to see where it leads.

I have, they do not end up like your pet. Ive tried it three times. Dervish Blackrock was named after a happy little mini pin, once he left Dory that was over. I have another named after my mothers mean female dog. She is the sweetest char I have. Third one might be close but as time goes on the soul gets twisted about and its harder and harder to keep it true to what he was supposed to be.

I would, but I have too many characters already, and there's no mechanism for knocking things off of tables, or getting underfoot.

Haha, the one I play as a pet comes off as mentally disabled. Like, they know what some words mean, and learn them, but not all, and they get scared easily and sleep alot. And they're kind of a spazz sometimes.

I actually have two pet chars. Snick is based off of my cat Snick: fat, black hair, large amber-green eyes, always tries to appear dignified but has a fun-loving side, brutally honest and blunt, and rather difficult to impress. But there's another side to her that nobody's triggered yet. And if I mention it here then I know everyone will start doing things trying to make her express it. So you guys will have to figure it out yourselves.
So far, I think I've done a good job of maintaining her loyalty to who she was intended to be.

My other is based off of my dachshund both in physical appearance and personality. She's as sweet and social as can be and energetic, and very affectionate and trusting, and she has a very strong sense of guilt. But she gets scared easily and isn't very smart intellectually—she's very gullible. And she has an obsession with the animals, particularly small ones, and can talk to them and everything. That part is fun to roleplay, even though it annoys me immensely. As for her physical traits…well, her level of strength is perfect for her appearance and personality. And my dog is a black-and-tan dapple miniature dachshund. Do the math.
She's been sleeping more lately because I've had a lot more on my schedule in the past few days. But other than that, I think I've done a fair job so far with her, though there have been times where I've had to edit the text so that she wouldn't go out-of-character. She's pretty one-sided.

It's amazing how quickly we get off-topic. XD

The worst thing I have seen since staring Cantr is that there isn't music forum in here. I like music, but I can't post any my favorite songs here.

I think there will be worse things to be seen soon.
Like towns dying out, with only a little of newbies spawning.
Already you could go exploring, and find whole towns full of (relative) wealth with nobody inside, and nobody in radius of 3-4 locations. When (if) item/building detoriation comes, it won't be that visible. But now you can only wonder on the ages long gone.

2 out of the 7 places I've been to on Fu are populated; the rest were deserted. One had a ton of notes on the ground (primarily in Polish), one had a woman who left an hour or two after we got there without saying a word (thus I don't count it as populated), and one location had a cottage with some simple machines and materials in there, but was void of people for the first year we were in that location. And none of the locations had bodies (except for one of the populated areas, but only because some people there had the sleeping sickness, and either they unsubbed or their accounts timed out).

Oh, it's deeeeefinitely been more than 4 days since the game has been down for weeks, so speaking of Fu made me think of that recently (well, when the game was still up) one of my characters found a dead body next to a lot of stuff and a tandem bike, several keys and notes in several languages. This with a character who has never made iron, seen rubber or met a foreigner (save for someone who spawned in the wrong language). Quite a leap up the tech tree. I was considering smashing the keys to skip the primitive smelting furnace stage and going straight to building a regular smelting furnace but I think either it would've been 10 grams short or there were some other complications involved. Not to mention it would be much cooler to find out where the keys go. Only a couple of them were labeled.

I know in one town there's a jeep project that's been started, but I don't think any materials have been added or anything, unless it was an extremely minute amount of rubber or steel.... (but definitely not aluminium). How they got that I have no idea, as I've yet to see anything made of steel on that island. In fact, my character has never seen hematite or limestone, although she HAS seen iron, when one town member made a lock on his house (a mud hut), and the iron came from the town hall (which is locked....).
So it's a great community, well developed with the resources they have, but still really primitive compared to the rest of the Cantrian world.

I wish Cantr was back up already....

My Fu character found a functional pickup truck, and has built the fuel injection system to customize it once the original petrol runs out. I think it might have belonged to some Swedes.

And one of mine found ... SEAWEED! Aaaand...hmm, you probably won't believe this, but... PIKE!
Seriously: Finding Scarab Haunt after all those places with two or three useless resources was amazing!
