Otherwise you would feel lonely, wouldn't you?

I am not surprised nor offended in any way by your answer, although I find it odd to answer to a criticism not aimed at you. No one is obliged to read my harsh comments though, and may answer as they want to (of course, if you simply try to offend me back, I'll respond in a similar way).

The only part of my text that is aimed only into the topic's subject and at you is the second. That is the part where all I tried is to help. If you are pissed off because of that part then this little speech was useless and you're a rude guy. :)

Therefore, the only way he could escape without leaving any trace would be being released. If he wasn't released and couldn't be released given the personalities of your character's friends, then he probably just clicked the "Big X" and won't return soon.

Or... I was in a different area so I couldn't witness him leaving or not and he had a key to the building he was in.

This is what I don't understand now: he had a key to the building he was dragged into? :|
If so, that completely changes the equation.

I think it is still a problem
It happens quite often that people disappear who were active quite a while. They talked, they were known by many people, they had clothes, a shield, a weapon and a few tools. And suddenly they are gone and their stuff is lying on the ground.

my suggestion: let them die the normal way, at least if they lived longer than one day

I very much agree. It causes more confusion than it does good. Investing two hours or less to bury the body is not that much of a burden.

AHA! That's what happens to those abducted or dissolved bodies!

Time to start a cult that sacrafices the "new" and pure to let their deity consume it!
