that makes no sense, as sooner or later someone will be offering passage to the different lands and the "spanish" speaking enviornment wont exactly be spanish anymore, and the same with most all the others

does sound kinda fun though :twisted:

Dunno really. There have been (Are) some english chars on the dutch island. Fing is, a group of those started making a bow and killed off a dutch character. Seems fishy at least. If you came sailing from an english island, you'd surely have been armed to the teeth.

Wasnt there, so can't say more. 1 of my chars is in a place with an english speaking person, but doesnt know where he came from or even w3hat his name is. :?

I'm usually playing in German but yesterday I tried to register a Spanish character just for fun. So when I looked where she landed I found that she was on the same island like my German characters which I first thought was very confusing. I thought I didn't get the language right...
But it seems that all characters speaking languages other than English are on one island. And since the Germans were pretty much the first ones to be there almost everything is already conquered by them and everybody speaks German. Now I wonder if it wasn't better to have separate islands for all the different languages...
But I guess that would be too much server-space. Especially since there don't seem to be as many other people speaking languages like French, Spanish and Dutch as there are German speaking people....

Question: when one language group travels to other islands do they make it possible for other characters of that language to be spawned there? For example, now that there are certified Dutch characters on the Spanish island, if someone were to spawn a Dutch character, would there be a chance they would start on the Spanish island in a location where there were other Dutch characters? If it's not like that, I think it should be.

Well, I didnt want him saved! I wanted his key so I could take his boat and my guy wouldn't get killed! But some other Dutch guy took it!!! ARGHH he'll be dead soon enough though....And about the diffferent language things...it might already be in effect or something. Somehow an english speaker spawned in the place with my spanish char, i don't know how that happened really seeing as how I was the only one there and I was on the spanish server...
I just can't stop coming back....

Thing of it this way. Your characters see the world throught the language that they were born into. So an English person see a turtle but the a Dutch person sees whatever turtle is in Dutch. Catch where I am going with this.

Actually, ppl in the dutch area's see a turtle too. Or deer, cows, sheep, etc.

It's a translating thing tho. :P

Jake wrote:Haha, lemme explain this, as it may sound confusing. A while back....I did a bad thing and spawned a char in the Spanish Server. My plan was to not talk as much as possible, so I ran into the mountains and almost died and found this little haven, where I've lived, quite happily, alone for many years. Well, someone who spoke english spawned, and left and probably died, cuz they were a newb. Anyways, a few weeks ago, a dutch person sailed in, much to my confusion. We tried talking, and communicating, it was very interesting. Anyways, the goats starting attacking, so i ran, and he was inactive, so i was gonna wait till he died and take his key, and get on his boat to be safe,so i wouldn't have to run out of town all the time. Now there is another dutch guy there, I think he's inactive to, but that's not the point. Anyway, I just turned a short story long, so lol, anyway, that's why Gunny here is asking cuz i told him part of that...

This cannot be coincidence, a short while ago I spawned in a spanish location decided to do a bit of travelling and came acros a dutch place . But heres the thing, I found an unlocked boat, maybe that was his boat. Anyway he is now sailing directly away from there with about two years worth of asparagus.

Just three little things:

1) Not all non-English groups are on the same island, although some might be;
2) All language groups are in the same world and can meet;
3) If you see players playing in English in any area that you think is a non-English area, please report to the PD. We can check whether anyone sailed to any of the non-English islands.

just a question, is it ok if a foreign language character sails to a place of different language and speaks there language because the player who plays that character knows how to?

I think your free to use your best judgement but I think it would be equally as fun to slip in odd statements and answers to questions in the beginning.

The general rule is that it is allowed to know their language, but usually more fun if you don't ;) ... but it's entirely up to you.

I had quite some fun though, stubbornly speaking Dutch to an Englishman, and trying to use my 'hands' to communicate :) ... He actually learned a little Dutch :) ...

but jos, then you would have to write english so that the english person understands your movements!
there are some spanish speaking people who are doing that in the german-dutch-spanish part...because there are so many germans that there is almost no other language spoken. It's really fun to do.
