Cantr II is not currently available. How bad is it?

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

Does the server work the way you think it should?

Not at all! I'll quit this game if the problem is not solved now!

I hate it, but I love the game so much so I'll probably stay anyway.

Yep - two times per day it's either unavailable or just very very slow: one is "daytime" and the other is "nighttime" ;)

got a question:
would it be possible to buy&migrate to some better server?
if so, how much would we need to pay for it?

i could donate some additional 20$ per month it that' mean the lags were smaller... and i believe more ppl would pay too in such situation...

Then donate 20$ a month. The more money they get, the more they can afford. It's not like they're making money off of this.

Is there scope for more money off ads?

Cantr II is unusual in being free but having almost no ads (just a couple on the login screen).

Maybe if you had an ad on each normal page, the money from that would help pay for a better server?

Then you could do what Bhaal does with WoE, and charge people a few dollars for a "premium account" that has no adverts. That way, you get a benefit from donating, but because it's an advantage for the player, not for the characters, it doesn't allow you to buy your way to victory.

Maybe in Cantr it could also give you an extra few credits/minutes a day without you having to vote, or something - again, this is a slight help to the player without being harsh to everyone else (ie giving you 1000g iron for donations would be rally annoying for everyone else but giving them an extra few minutes to play isn't...). This is similar to WoE where your donation means you get the little bonus that you normally get from clicking a few voting links, but without having to vote. Means people with more money that time will pay a bit, and those with more time than money will keep clicking the links.

I'm sure the donations Bhaal received in WoE went up a lot when he did that, even though he'd had a "donations" button for a while...

Yes, I like both of those ideas, voting for credits, and money from adverts with premium accounts having no adverts

It's not the ammount of ads that's the main problem.

It's the content on the pages with the ads, and the placement of the ads. They will generate ads that won't have much click through value (generally free games), and they're in a place that everybody ignores completely. Having ads on the top of the forum would be a good place to start.

Just no bad content in ads...or I'll start sending in complaint.

Of course they won't have any bad content. I just hope we can get some more cash. I would help if I could with donations, but I can't, so I am more than willing to put up with ads.

*groan* If you really have to. Please don't make the premium too high though. Ads are a pain when using text-speech.
Has anyone played Project Rockstar? That's free and they seem to sort this thing out without the ads being intrusive, at least to me... make 'em all in flash or something you can turn off.

I don't agree with making a premium account thing. Either everyone should have to suffer the ads or no one.

The server sends packets to and receives packets from my computer, just as I would expect. Therefore, I voted that it works just fine.

Everyone does, unless you pay.

Would it be an every month kind of thing?
