Bright red font should probably be reserved for moderators, for clarity's sake... If people want to moderate themselves or express strong emotions, they can use some other color.

Ker wrote:I still can't believe you had the gall to call my character a creep when you barely know him... Hell I doubt my char ever met yours or said more then three words to yours. But no let's throw a wild accusation in there and make my char sound like a necrophiliac. To be honest I am quite offended by that.

Typing in red is normally used by moderators to draw attention to post moderation. Just so you know. :)

Edit: Uhm, Seko beat me to it. But anyways. :)

You need to emotionally detach yourself from your characters, or you'll be in a world of hurt. Lashing out like this should be taken as a warning sign that your line between real and game is too hazy. It's a game.

I had some problems with that in the past myself. And it will make you not want to play anymore after some time. The char is not you, you always have to keep that in mind.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

RPG's has (a lot of times) that effect on people. I've seen people go berserk when bad things happened to their characters in pen & paper RPG's. :D

D&D. I'm guilty of that.
Monopoly brings out the worst in me too.
But I've cried in frustration playing this when well laid plans fell apart or others reacted differently to expected and my emotions got the better of me. I'm getting better.
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

Seriously, if people wouldn't attach themselves to their characters, there would be no such thing as roleplaying. That's the fun of it.
Pretty in pink.

There's a difference between attachment and inability to separate character from self. Lashing out at other players on the forum because they've expressed their opinion of your character, and admitting that you're personally offended by these opinions, shows an unhealthy lack of perspective.

I fully expect this person to tell me to stfu, but having been there myself and suffered terribly because of it, I feel it's my duty to point it out when I see it in others, because I would have been grateful if someone had pointed it out in me.

That's the end of my two cents.

True story from about 25 years ago-- A friend of mine who owned a comic book store and was involved in a AD&D campaign had to actually "talk down" a player who had brought (or threatened to bring? I'm no longer so clear at this late date) a gun, intending to kill the DM for having his character killed. He had to carefully explain to him the difference between reality and "just a game". (I myself ran a campaign for 20 years, and never had any kind of incident like that, and I let my kids play AD&D (although I won't play this edition... I'm a 2.0 man, myself...))

Ditto that. I also extensively modified the rules.

Aww. sad to know jessi is dead. Ruby Macgregor was me. So sad....she missed her home.
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
