I'd had three characters in my long list keeping me playing, that list has now since the event dropped to two and even one of those is becoming harder for me to bother with. I have tried so hard to not let it bother me, but after this last week, I've been pretty irritated and discouraged enough to consider the X once again. That other character joins the likely to be killed off list and we will see what the next week brings. Maybe it will look better. I think some of you will die of shock the day I actually do hit that x and one of them drops.

You made a promise.

I have said I would quit so many times in the past it is not even funny. Cantr has become a habit or chore more than entertainment these days. Does anyone else feel this way sometimes?

It scares me when I see certain forum names posting in this thread. Just going to make a blanket statement: Don't quit! And stop even thinking about it.

More often than I would like to. And more strongly now than ever before. But I realized it's not every character that makes me feel that way. The things I do for the characters that don't, well, that time spent doesn't feel like a chore for me at all, but more like the duties of a commitment made to fellow players. I've had too many good times to say goodbye altogether. And honestly I've had to say goodbye so many times both in real life and Cantr that I'm sick of doing it. I'm not nearly as good at it as I should be, considering all the practice I've had.

There are a few conclusions I've come to:

Some of my characters don't have others that they are mutually vested in to make it worth my time to keep playing them. I realized that I can make better use of the smaller amount of time that I still want to dedicate to playing if I just get rid of those characters.

There are other characters of mine that do have friends and 'family' that they are close to, but I just don't feel like I have the time and energy to match the enthusiasm of the players of those other characters. As much as I wish those characters of mine could keep on living on their own, it just isn't going to happen. Those other players do deserve better, I know, but at this point in my life, I just can't give it. And I finally realized that keeping those other characters of mine around is just an added burden to them. I know killing mine off won't lessen their responsibilities any, things that I feel like I should be helping out with, but at the same time, sticking around and making them feed, talk to, and otherwise care for characters that wake up once a week or less isn't right.

So for those reasons, I'm compromising. I'm almost certain at this point that I'm halfway quitting. I'll soon have half the amount of characters that I now have. But I'll still be around! And I think the characters that survive this will end up being better for it in the long run. :)

*pokes Hermi* Not nice. :P

Masterekat, I think that's the best way to handle things. Sometimes it's best to let a few chars go so you can focus on others and be happy playing the game. I've gotten to where I don't even want more than 10 chars because I know I won't enjoy playing so many and having those extra chars sitting on my screen will just become a source of guilt.

If I could easily drop some I would...but I can't choose who to drop.
