Random thought: I'm seriously considering learning how to crochet. My mom used to do that almost every night in front of the TV. Or I could take the easier route and go back to doing counted cross-stitch. It's been a very long time since I've bothered with that.

Guess I should look into what exactly can be made using crochet. I mean... I don't want to make 500 doilies.

My grandmother loved to crochet. She made blankets, slippers/moccasins, and pot holders. I am quite grateful for these now, as she recently passed away and yet I've still had these items and will likely have them for many years to come... useful mementos of her life.

That's awesome, Hyrle. My grandma made quilts for her grandkids. Unfortunately, she had a ton of grandkids and died before she was able to get even halfway through.
Only my older cousins ended up with one.

http://www.lionbrand.com has a lot of free patterns, and you can also order yarn from there.

I have three characters that spawned within a reach of two towns of each other. They are constantly being affected by things happening in the other cities, and it's really hard to keep things separate in my head. They should never have spawned this close and I'm not much of a traveller.
Read about my characters by following this link.

Sweet! But see, I consider this kind of stuff to be knitting, not crochet. Maybe I've had the wrong impression all these years.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
They have both (as I'm sure you've noticed lol).
You can crochet doilies (actually I've been obsessed with finding doily patterns lately (but not actually making doilies because I have too many projects going on already lol)) but there's so much other awesome stuff too. I personally prefer it to knitting.
Mostly because the upfront cost for knitting materials is more than that of crocheting materials, what, with all the different needle types (plain vs double-pointed vs in-the-round), sizes (includes length of the in-the-round ones), cable hooks, etc etc etc.
Whereas crochet is usually just a hook and a tapestry needle. And sometimes stitch markers if you're in the round, but you use those in knitting too.

A tapestry needle? Whatever for? I've crocheted for 12 years and never used one... -or- a stitch marker. lol

A three-week summer Public Speaking course is not something that anyone should be subjected to, ever. Each class is almost four hours long, every Monday to Thursday. I'm on the third week now, but I hate it more than anything right now. Listen, I know that college is going to be rough, but this class is literally the bane of my existence. I am a horrible speaker.
Afterthought: I should have written the speech on why people should play Cantr. Darn.

College will make you want to stab yourself in the eyes.

Yes, but the crochet stuff looked more like what I've always assumed was knitting. I really should look into it more.
I did my Public Speaking class online.

I just use hoop earrings for stitch markers. xDD
Tapestry needles for weaving in the ends. For example in patchwork things. I actually prefer to use a small crochet hook but other people use tapestry needles, so.

I'm probably going to need a public speaking course. As part of my major, I have this thing called a sophomore decision, which is like juries (i.e. you play in front of the music faculty) on steroids plus a 3-minute speech. If I fail the jury, I pretty much have to drop out of the music school. If I fail the speech, I have to take a speech class. I. Suck. At. Speeches. I can ramble on and on about whatever I have running through my mind in an informal setting, but make me give a formal speech about that same topic and I will stutter, forget facts, stutter, asdfghjkl. I was going to join the local chapter of Toastmasters to help with that. But then my latest creeper decided he was going to go too so then I ended up having to avoid the whole place, which stinks because it'd be way cheaper for me to do Toastmasters than a formal speech class.
