Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I'd bet it is.
ToD: Some days words are really difficult to "tame" and seem to insist in misbehaving and it feels weird. Kind of when Humpty Dumpty explained Alice about how he was able to make words mean exactly what he wanted them to mean in each situation, although giving them a pay rise when he made them overwork.

I'm so happy I can't think right. I've been playing less Cantr than ever and I'm only partly sorry for that.

Former half of last week: hospital.
Latter half of last week: trying to catch up with school work.
This week: trying to catch up with school work I didn't do because I was too busy reading ASoIaF.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
We had a mini-concert last night for the band parents, the wind symphony's "sendoff show" since Concert MPA is next Friday. Anyway, my reed decided to crap out on me, and it's the last good reed in my box, so now I need a new box. The problem is, I'm using the harder reeds in the hardness range, meaning I can only use about half the reeds in any given box of 3½ Vandoren blue box reeds. So I'm considering moving up to size 4 so that I can get used to them. The problem with that is I don't know if I can play on a 4 yet, and S&E State is in about 2 weeks, which is not enough time to fully get used to it if it happens to be that much harder. The solution to that would to be to buy reeds of both sizes and hope I get a good mix, but the problem with that is that the reeds I use cost up to $25 a per box (10 Bb clarinet reeds per box) and they don't offer them for individual sale, so it would be expensive to buy both boxes especially if I don't use one of them.
So my options look like this:
• buy 3½ box and risk them all crapping out on me because they're too soft
• buy 4 box and risk them being too hard to play on
• buy both boxes, spending $40 to have just a few good reeds
• use my current reed and risk squeaking and crapping out (more likely because it's a fairly old reed)

Buy the 4... My dad played sax for a long time, he said there isn't much difference as long as you have a powerful set of lungs, which one usually has after years of playing... So the advice from here: buy the 4, and don't hesitate if it is a bit awkward at first.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Another problem I just remembered with me using a box of 4s is that I tried doing this with my alto sax a year ago and got such bad headaches that I eventually said, "Screw it, I'm going back to 3½."

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
After an insomniac night last night and calling in this morning, hopefully tonight I will crash very soon and sleep long so that I will have the energy to do things on the computer and around the house, rather than just sit around reading all day.
I can't remember the last time I've read quite so voraciously, though; I used to do it all the time before high school and college. I started a book Monday (Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn, a suggestion of Felicia Day), finished it Wednesday, started another Wednesday night (Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, because I wanted to read it before going to the movie later this month), finished it early this morning (between bouts of trying to sleep) and then started and finished a third novel today (Catching Fire, sequel). And I'm a fifth of the way through my fourth novel for the week (Mockingjay, last of the trilogy).

We just passed a pickup on a rural two-lane road with a semi leading a line of cars in the other direction, and nearly rear-ended it just before.

Yay for happiness!
My ears are ringing, my voice is hoarse, and I can't sleep. But...it was a great night of friends, fun, singing and dancing. Woot!

And then comes the Scrooge...
I have an awful headache, the lovely fruit of being awake from 4 till 6.30 then dozing off till 8. *groans* I have an awful week ahead, and since I posted about "Sod's Law", I did not have a single day without some unfortunate event.
On a better note, two policemen visited us last night after a lot of people reported stolen badges... My cars' included.
They were so lovely and reassuring, and their visit made me feel a lot better.
