Lad. has become seriously boring... I used to love the oppressive regime of Lad... one of the few interesting governments.

Am I the only one that draws a parallel between the absence of large, multi-area, governments and the rush of unbalanced changes to Cantr?

I wonder if those days will ever be recaptured.

(K-Isle doesn;t count... it is a much smaller environment, much more enclosed.)

I think the lack of Imperialism in Cantr is due to the lack of cooperation between characters and a lack of attention span. People come and go so rapidly now that it is difficult to form a real strong sense of identity, or nationalism if you will. Most people seem to be incredibly individualistic and independent. I can't tell if that is a result of game mechanics making things difficult or a reflection on the attitudes of the player base. I have a feeling that it is mostly the latter, because the intent of the changes in he game has been to foster cooperation between characters.

it seems that not only are individual characters not cooperating, but towns aren't working together either.

for example, if City Q needs limestone, they'll take a vehicle out three towns away to City L and spend years gathering it, then cart it all back to City Q. it seems easier to work out a trade agreement with City L so that you can cut out the "spend years gathering it" part. but you just don't see that. or at least I don't.

At least one town has been trying to setup that sort of arrangements, but from what I have seen, the parties involved in the deal are in complete misunderstandment of how the deal is supposed to work. It hasn't really increased efficiency that much in the long run, as the deal seems to get lost in bureaucracy, or lack thereof, I'm still not exactly sure.

I know of one city that does operate with trade agreements such as that. Others who will go and trade for what they need, instead of gathering it themselves.

The problem with trade agreements is, the people or person you have an agreement with may very well be dead by the next time you go see them. Possibly no one in their town will have a clue what you're talking about.

I see more cooperation between towns in the KDS region than anywhere else, not only in trade, but politically as well. That's why I love that area so much. Rich in intertwined history, everyone above thirty knows or knows of every leader, past or present, throughout the region. It is truly an intertwined area, unlike any others I've seen.

Yeah, I thought about KDS this morning. It slipped my mind during my last post. I do love all the history of the region, and the fact that I get to be involved in so much information flow! :D

Quillanoi! ... at least, used to be until Russell died - haven't been there since. And Kwor is quite cool as well, I must say, with the first decent religion I encounter in Cantr. Whoever created that religion, my compliments! :)

Got a request here, can someone split the villain discussion into another thread? It's an interesting topic and I've got some things I'd like to say about it, but at the same time I don't want to see this whole thread derailed...
