Muppet Newspawns/Theifs/Killers (muppets in general)
Shouldn't we be thinking of a way to counter this problem. Rather than just punishing the ones we catch out. It is actualy a very big problem, everyone should try this and see for yourself: take a character out of a reasonably well established location and just stop at 0% or 100%. Leave him/her there for about a week and see how many of these nutters come past getting chased by the military. I'm not talking about OOC, I mean IC (but maybe a few things could be implemented to help.).
Places should offer protection to there citizens, protection from theft, violence. A lot of people say Cantr is a real life simulator, it's obviously not true at the moment. Because I don't see people running away down my street with 1k of wood in their hands. I want to see governments actauly be governments, rather than pointless rule makers. Everything is getting too similar, hunting laws, note dropping laws, pointless laws.

The general laws, the stable ones, tend to be common because much of the basics of Cantr life are similar everywhere...
Note thieves, taking things from the ground and animals dying off are common, so laws about them are common.
As for 'grab and run newpsawns' - they aren't all to be intentionally annoying, one of mine got very rich from it, before she ran after the thief that stole the bike she stole and didn't have enough food
As for governments storing stuff - you'll find most of them have a locked room where things can be stored if needed, characters just aren't awake all the times to take the valuable stuff off of the ground...

Whoever you vote for.
The government wins.
The government wins.

*yawn* Governemnts are rubbish nowadys. ^^ this crap is the norm EVERYWHERE. I want to see mor original governments, who actualy offer something. People should be discouraged to do these things by learning it is better not to do so, at the moment it isnt. Improving the quality of life will stop it happening. This could be done in many ways, for example events like festivals and things, just an example. Something different for gods sake, other than:
Ben: "oh you cant drop notes here because its against the rules that the Big Dog made"
Jim "Whos big dog"
You point at big dog.
Ben: "He's big dodg he's the boss here."
Jim: "What does he do?"
Ben: "He just updates the rules now and again"
You see jim nick the vicars bike and scarper.

And what is stopping you from causing such changes yourself or creating societies which differ from your so-called norm, CM? [Nothing, unless you lack the creativity and necessary leadership traits?]
I happen to lead a society (IC) which I've been told is rather eccentric and strange, yet interesting and effective. Despite this, the fundamental laws are in some way or another, enforced, or else we'd be broke from thieves being allowed to steal from us.

Maybe, just maybe, you could do something about this yourself? Instead of whining at other people. Personally, I don't find Cantr as fun as I used to, but I try to solve that (at the moment unsuccessfully...) in game rather than ranting on the forum.
If you think Cantr is boring, try to enliven it yourself!
EDIT: Nitefyre beat me to it... but my point still stands.

It's the whole MArxist theory again. How does a government which isn't oppresive keep the citizens form rebelling. They make them belive that there life is great through the media.
Now if we apply that to Cantr. The rebels are those muppets I'm talking about. The media could be many tings, anything to improve peoples satisfaction from their life. Then they wont be muppets because they know its not worth it.

Because I can't be bothered to climb my way through the ranks of these BORING governments so I'm in a position to do so. So instead I'll tell it to you, the people who are in such positions.

I fail to see your point (as a whole), but I'll respond to what I can understand. Media exists in Cantr, whether it be the medium of notes/newspapers/propaganda and word of mouth. How you use it is up to you, and it is not for you to go to the forums to be whining about it and expect something to be done. Apply your wishes through your characters, because I'm not going to have you change my mind on how my characters behave or their governments run.Cookie Monster wrote:Cookie Monster wrote:Improving the quality of life will stop it happening. .

(Edit: The second part of my paragraph responds to CM's second post, conveniently enough-though I hadn't planned for it to)
And in response to this,
... So instead I'll tell it to you, the people who are in such positions.
I suggest you read the CR when you suggest these OOC ideas to be implemented ICly.

Erm... I think you are the one with the sly comments.
And about the whole government things... not every place has a very stable government, that could easily be overthrown or replaced by one way or another. I'm sure there are places that don't even have governments.

Ironically enough, the society which I had referenced has been compared to a Socialist community, not far off the ideals of Karl Marx.Cookie Monster wrote:nitefyre wrote:I fail to see your point (as a whole), but I'll respond to what I can understand. Isn't this something that your character(s) should address for themselves in game.
If it is an IC problem then deal with ICingly.
