Fizzle... or Flizzle?

Postby Lemon Demon » Sun Apr 17, 2005 10:00 am

 Don't you just love those fun little typos that you see in documents and web pages? Like Flizzle at the bottom of every page in Cantr. It used to be Fizzle, but which is meant to be? Fizz, or Flizz?

Hey, I just had an idea! Let's make a poll! Whee! :D I wonder if Programming will have sorted this out before anybody sees?

I tested it once and it was indeed flizzle (and still is). That sounds über stupid but maybe there wasn't any other short ones available. Besides fizzle means some sort of a screwup at least with spells so that would be even more stupid.

8) I feel good, I just made a completely pointless poll. Yay! Everyone, vote Fizzle! We'll fight them on the forums!

:o On the seventh hour, Cantr time? Of course not! Now it's a new day though... *turns away, cape blowing in the breeze, and jumps from the cliff, to a cociphony of gasps from the onlookers*

Flizzle, because that's the domain that Jos has registered.

I would imagine Jos chose it because it sounded similar to Flump, our old hosting site.

I just thought it sounded funny and meaningless, that's why :) ... And yes, perhaps Flump triggered something ;) ... But not consciously.

Okay, I can't take this anymore. I would have thought this would have been locked after only five posts, probably less. When will life ever be the same again?

...it used to be Flump. Then it was Flizzle. It has never been Fizzle.

It never really was Flump, though :) ... In terms of server providers we went from:

- hosting it on a comp in my own flat
- Flump
- ServerIntelligence (really bad!)
- JohnCompanies
- 1and1 (current)

For at least the latter two, and I think also Flump, we used 'Flizzle.net' as a name of Thomas and me, in between the server provider and Cantr. (That is, Flizzle.net is a client of the server provider, and Cantr a client of Flizzle.net, in a sense - the idea being that we could also host other sites, which, alas, never happened.)

So you can't really say we went from Flump to Flizzle :) ...
