I finally managed to read this whole thread ... But I had read the discussion on the Yahoo group before, and there is not that much new. I like the list of David at the start of this thread on possible effects on children. And I fully agree that children should add a lot to gameplay. I guess I agree with Solfius - a relatively small number of characters one can start at 20, and the rest only from a young age, so that new players can participate as adults without having to wait months, while children would become the main method of spawning. And the ones ready to play a child would be queued until there is a 'spot' available (whereby the player will be selected randomly from the top ten waiters, and when there are less than ten in the queue, procreation fails by definition ... this to make sure nobody can actually 'plan' to make sure to queue just before a procreation activity). How to implement the whole procreation-project thing, I have yet to think about. Probably just somewhat like dragging - one starts, this will be visible, and if the other joins, they're having ... ok, I'll leave the bad word out ... And then a random chance of 'success', of course ... But not a time-consuming project, I think.

We have twice as many men as we have women in the game ... is that going to be a problem? ... Should we have procreative same-sex relations? I understand that in RL, scientists are already working on having male pregnancy ... ... Nah, I guess that would be too odd.

Pregnancy of 2/3 of a year sounds reasonable, I guess ... so 15 days.

The 20 year olds should just spawn the usual way, I think, which will also make it possible to open new islands ...

I was just adding it out there. Don't get me wrong like I'm for rape being added to Cantr. Just wanted to see what other people thought. It would open up a new set of laws in areas. Crimes for rape.
