THE GAME IS NOW LOCKED (not that you’d know it)

Postby julie2 » Wed Mar 09, 2005 4:15 pm

I think the last few posts from the “Close Cantr Down” thread definitely bear repeating here. So here goes. Hopefully Jos et al are too busy implementing the server transfer to put a notice up here. So here’s the story so far:

julie2 wrote:Hey! I just got an error message: “THE GAME IS LOCKED. YOU CAN ACCESS THE WEBSITE BUT NOT YOUR CHARACTER PAGES”
Looks like They listened !!!! :D

Razorlance wrote:Yup, me too, but there's also a message from Thomas saying that they closed it partly due to the slowness and partly because the've started the transfer. :D

Also a thought about the original slowness, didn't it start happening around the same time as the 'upgrade' the server vendor told Jos about?

Poster Bob wrote:It's the loging on message again. But not a locked message.

Also, I only check one char a day. Ridiculous. 15 mins to say 2 lines. I just give up. :x

*sigh*

julie2 wrote:I've an idea you can only read the "LOCKED" message if you're already logged in, then try to access a character page. And now they've made it impossible to log in, apparently, so only the lucky few ever got to read the "LOCKED" message. So you'll just have to take our word for it. Another stroke of sheer brilliance from the Programming Department! (er...yep , I was being ironic just then, just in case you hadn't noticed)

By the way, I just found out that Thomas is keeping us posted on this thread here:

About a year ago i had an account and within a mounth ago i created a new one as i lost the old one due to inactivity. But i remember the nights trying to play when it was incredibly slow so it was not a recent thing tho i do not remember it being as slow as it is now.

Yeah, last late winter we had quite a dose of lag, if I remember right.

Oh, it comes and go. Just like some of the players and faces. But others stay.

Folow the link I put in my second post. Last news was that they're working on it at the weekend, and might even finish that soon.
