Tombs/burials
This has come up many of times, but I've come up with an idea that maybe would be fairly easy to implement.
My suggestion is that a new tab be added to the top of our pages, called "yard"
Bodies currently end up on the ground and you can click the icon which will start you burrying the body. I suggest that when you click that tab you can still have the option to plain out burry the body-----OR as well add stone to the project which in the end would create a memoriam if you had the proper tools. Maybe tools required would be a chisel. If you should so choose to burry the body this way, you'd be asked, (just like you are when you begin a project for a car,) for the name youd wish to show up on the marker/memoriam.
When the projects complete, the marker would show up under the tab "yard". People could look there to see the markers/steal them/break them. But the bodies would always remain burried of course.
I suggest this possibility be made for indoors as well, only requiring something more than stone, but perhaps clay so that people can have real tombs rather than whole buildings or rooms with a single name on it.
Make it of course, so that the memoriams outside only show up to your character when you're outside and the ones inside buildings only show up to your character if there are any in that particular building your character is in-- when you have clicked on the tab "yard" (Kind of like the people page works, except there wouldn't be an announcement every time you entered or exited a building.)
(perhaps there'd be another name more suiting for the tab than yard) I'd suggest that the "finnished" project end up under objects, except we already have overwhelming amounts of things that end up on the objects page and after a while I imagine that grave yards (if they ended up on objects page) would become quite clustered if people chose to add the stone to a project and burry their people that way.
So, so I have this straight and in a more understandable term:
Click on objects, you click the cross and are taken to a page that has a drop down menu where it asks--- "create memoriam" "burry" "entomb"
If you chose create memoriam, the body would end up on the activity page just like they do now. However, you'd first be taken to a page where it asks for the name of the marker. You'd fill that in. Then go to your inventory, add the required material and make sure you had your tool. You'd work on the project and when project is completed under the new "tab" there'd be an icon- "Marker of ______" and the name you chose. (This is kind of what happens with vehicles and buildings.) Anyone who clicked the tab yard would see that marker after it's completed, when they are outside. (Just like when you're outside and you click on people, you can only see the people that are outside.)
If you chose burry, you'd burry the body just like you do now. The end result, body burried, no marker, no required materials. No way to notice that the body had been burried or ever existed.
If you chose entomb you'd of course have to be inside of a building. If you were outside and chose "entomb" you'd get a red error messege explaing you couldn't preform that task outdoors or something. (and like wise, burrying people/memoriams wouldn't be possible indoors.) So you're inside, choose entomb, it takes you to a page that asks for the name you'd like. Requires so much of certain materials and a certain tool. When project is finnished, under yard there will be "Tomb of "____" and the name you chose." When anyone came inside, and clicked the tab "YARD" they'd see that tomb or any others that were "entombed' there in that specific location, just like you can only see the people that are in the same room as you, can't see people that aren't inside if they're not inside, you would only see those entombed in that one room if there were any at all.
I'm not sure that any of the above is really possible. (Hopefully noone has suggested it in that way before either, otherwise here's a duplicate of their idea. lol)

Burial at sea too!
"You see the body of a man in his fourties being thrown overboard the SS ShoeLace"
Seriously though, great idea Missy, I like it. Maybe make some nice use for that marble we have IC now but without uses? Tombstones could be like perm. notes, require some stone and a chisel.

Yes great idea. The best substitute my gravedigger character thought about was to create an envelope titled Cemetery or Graveyard that he could make "tombstone" notes to store inside that would simply read:
Here Lies
"man in his twenties"
We never knew him
That would leave a record behind and still keep the clutter of objects down on the ground. Would also allow graverobbers to run off with tombstones...don't know why they would want them but there are some crazies running around.
Like I said...your idea is much better.

How about:
Tomb Stone
Days needed: 4
Raw materials needed: 2000g Stone
Tools needed: chisel, hammer
Can be named and built inside or outside.
In loving memory of Mr Dead.
And, with the same programming:
Sign Post
Days Needed: 4
Raw Materials needed: 600g Wood
Tools needed: hammer
Can be named, such as Bob's Forest, Keep out!

What would be great woiuld be if you could create sighn that would be visible on the road, say from 20% away from the targewt town. Thus, you could have sighs saying things like "Plauge warning!" or "visitors will be executed"
That might be difficult with the coding, but I've never used MySQL, so I can't judge that

Perhaps under the location screen, right beneath the 'hit animal' button there should be a 'demolition' button. There would be listed all the destructable things that have been made in the town. Signs and tombstones would be there of course, but so would buildings, firepits, barrels, etc...
Signs and the like would have a relative defense value and a 'health' rating. You can hit them with your weapon, obviously hacking a sign apart with a sabre is more effective than punching it. However tools like the sledge hammer should give a high bonus to these demolition tasks.
Buildings' defense values should be through the roof, so that hitting it with a normal weapon like a crossbow should be completely ineffective. Only the right tools which give big bonuses (like a sledgehammer) should be able to do minor damage.
What do you all think?

Shooting weapons would do no damage to signs, but maybe the arrows would stay jutting out of it and you could use it for target practice! But that would require a missing option. And maybe accidentally hitting a person who's unlucky enough to stand behind there. Breaking things would give more use for bashing weapons, now everyone just wants sharp ones.

I agree... although it'd be slipping into more... "D&D" terms, we should differentiate between bashing, slashing, and piercing weapons. So far, bashing weapons are not used very often. I've been most disappointed with the effects of the warhammer. But if bashing weapons got a secondary use in being able to break down signs, firepits, machinary, and even maybe do a few chips to a building, then they'd be a helluva lot more useful. And we'd start seeing a more varied stock of arms around cantr.
