Boats and docking
Ok so Soarers, Darters and other Iron/steel boats can only dock in Coaster harbours. Now I find this anoying that you go to all the trouble of building boats like that and if they happen to find land they can't dock. Oh and theres also the scenario i once encountered where somebody decides to lock the harbour so you can't get into the town you docked at.
Anyway, my suggestion is to make the ability for people to be able to dock a smaller boat onto the soarer, raker etc. and move with it so that when they do find land they can jump onto it a dock. This would need to be done singlehandedly though, so that one person could do this. At the moment that isn't posible since you have to undock in order to dock a boat, and someone else has to undock the camller boat in order to doack it onto the larger boat.

Huh? I don't get it. You might want to PM me if you think it'd reveal too much in character knowledge...
Then again, you might not want to PM me.

Not only is that information to be learned IC, but it also is not necessarily true...

I understand what he's saying, anyway.
This is why we have the ability to allow smaller boats to dock on larger boats. If you want to dock your huge-ass Galleon on land, pull a dinghy along and get on it, undock from the Galleon, and go to shore. Simple. Just like in ye-olde-real-life, ya know? Well, not now, but way back when.

I think what he is saying is that he can't dock with a ship that is already docked. He wants to put a small boat on the larger one. Since he apparently cannot doc with the larger ship until it is out at see. He has to take the larger boat out. Then, he cannot get back to shore to bring the smaller one on board. If he had someone he trusted, he could set out with the larger one, have a friend follow in the smaller and dock it. Then they could both return to shore in the small boat.
I don't know if thats the way it works (never been on the water), but allowing a boat in dock to be docked with might solve his problem.

And creat a new one. Unseen Pirates. If you could dock to boats that are docked, pirates could sneak along next to a town and plunder all the boats there with out anyone in the town being the wiser. They could just dock with a ship, unload a person, loot it if there's anyone on board, or steal the whole boat if there's not or they just can't drah them anywhere.
Now if locks still worked when you docked ... then docking with docked boats would be good.

I knew there was something I meant to complain about... locks being ineffective against docking. Now, where's the right forum for moaning about that? General Discussion?

Flyspray.
As for the not being able to dock a small boat onto a large boat yourself, I know that. Duh. I'd like to see you ACTUALLY man a large Galleon by yourself. It's possible in Cantr, yes, but we have to kick your ass SOMEWHERE to get a second or third person on there.
Hello? Society Simulator, anyone? We actually need to simulate -something- here. We're surely not going to let you dock a small boat on a big boat, then drive off on the big boat, all by yourself.
Hell, we have the ability to make there be a minimum amount of people on a boat in order for it to work. Would you like this to be implemented? It would be my pleasure, you know. I just feel that this would be unfair, to need a minimum amount of people. What if one person dies mid-way on the trip? The boat would stop and you'd be screwed. Is that okay? Noooo, not at all. So ww'll just leave it the way it is.
If you want to dock on land, find someone to assist you to dock a small boat on your big boat. Hell, get two people to dock two small boats on your big boat, then have them both leave on one of the small boats. Now you'd be alone on your craft with a smaller boat being towed. So there. Get some help. SOCIETY simulator. Not 'Lone Person' simulator.

so a pirate being able to sneak into town on a boat and steal it if the owner leaves it for ages without checking is a bad thing? sounds more like real life to me the cutting out mission was very popular in the days of sail as a way to get an enemy boat with small losses. and realistically how are you going to lock the sides of a boat to stop someone being able to jump over the sides ?
