Is an alcove a separate room?
I have a character considering to add an alcove for a small bedroom or bathroom, but I don't know if an alcove is actually a separate room (can have a door, offers privacy) or if it just adds additional capacity to the existing room. Thanks!

It's a really small room.

It's a separate room. I don't think anything exists that just adds storage capacity.
There was a suggestion thread awhile back about making them quicker to build. I wish something had happened with that, because there's basically no reason to choose an alcove over an extension right now. 4 extra days work and a few more kilos of stone gives you six times the capacity.

I would certainly love something to happen about reducing the time too...alcoves really shouldn't take that long

It is not a room.
Make a picture search and you will find out.

Mechanically speaking, it is a room in the game though, which is what Monkey seemed to be asking about.

Yes. Thank you, everyone. I understand now.
