If someone is annoying you do something about it....don't be a victim.

On the other hand...people going to straight from annoyed, to death threats and murder attempts, is pretty lol and dull, and already too common in this game.

I'm with hyrle and Kyriel here. Should be dealt with IC, whatever the situation is. Though 'For no freaking reason' sounds like a pretty big assumption to make about another character's motivation.

So round up some friends and kill 'em. Or at least try to intimidate them into shutting up. There are plenty of IG, IC ways to resolve the situation. And usually if someone pushes enough buttons, they'll provoke a violent response.

...Now I'm curious. What is the appropriate IC response?

Whatever is justifiably IC for your character.

And in Marian's opinion?

This. Obviously it's always going to depend on the character. I was just commenting on how the response for so many seemed exactly the same. Seems like there's not a lot of sociableness in this game about social interaction, much of the time. MAD NOW CLICK BUTAN MUST KILL RRRRAAAAARGH!, and trenchcoaty posturing is far more common.

Diplomacy and and compromise and creativity are rare, and aspects of the game I personally find far more interesting, but of course YMMV.

Its not a case if whack a mole. The poster did state it continually happens so diplomacy and social interaction appear to have failed or the other side does not care.

Ah, I think I see the confusion now. I responded to them about it being and issue that should likely be resolved IC, then as a separate point in my response to you was talking about a too-common phenomena that puzzled and annoyed me, this being the thread for that.

But obviously without knowing any details it's not really possible to make assumptions or give advice about whatever the specific situation is...the only thing I really took issue with was with the 'for no freaking reason' comment, for the same reason Kyriel did.

Hey - I'm not saying that's the first reaction. Minor annoyances are usually tolerated. But if another character is seriously causing major problems for your character and their friends, and as long as it would be in-character for your character - sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I think that to some extent, our characters are extensions of ourselves, even the opposite ones. I have a character that I, as a person, cannot STAND. They just rub me the wrong way. My nasty chars would deal with them some kinda way, but even my nicest characters wouldn't like them. The only difference being how they handled them.

If the potatoes are bad... throw them in an oven and bake them till their eyes wither.

Thats a great IC solution, especially since few of us care for raw potatoes.

People who generate spawns in places they don’t belong, and abandon them.

No, but recently some Polish people traveled around English islands and so Polish newspawns started showing up. Some of us tried to find them transportation back to Polish areas, but then they'd just abandoned the characters, keeping them asleep and starving.

A bit unfair to blame the player though ?
