I'm just going to come out and say bluntly that, if you're killing characters without giving them a chance to RP, that makes you a bad player. Like, a really bad player. One who is actively, deliberately harming the game, getting some kind of bizarre enjoyment out of snuffing out stories someone has labored over for years while not contributing any of your own. Is clicking that attack button really so much fun? While the Talk button just utterly fails to amuse you?
Is giving a person you have securely locked up a chance to RP hard? Is giving a person in NDS time to RP hard? No, no it's not. What you are doing is all so completely without excuse or reason and so transparently mean-spirited and contemptuous of other players in an already small and fragile community, that it also makes me wonder if you're not only a bad player, but a bad person. And again, to be blunt, I'd actually go so far as to say it makes me dislike you as a human being, on a personal level. It makes me feel that I would be perfectly okay with some psychopath dragging your phone, tablet, and computer off into a closet and brutally taking them to pieces with an axe so that you can never ever log in to this game with the intent to destroy it and make it less fun for everyone else ever again.
This psychopath would never speak to you at any point, naturally.

Woah there. It is just a game. Ad hominem attacks aren't called for. I'm in no way defending these actions, just the person. That's a pretty big assumption to make.

But see, that's the thing about actions, they allow you to draw certain conclusions about the people who make them.
And I think I'm allowed to be a little dramatic, seeing as how I'm not singling anyone out, and I still 100% stand by my opinion that they're deliberately harming the game.
Why, is the thing I don't understand.

Judging a person by a single action isn't fair. And that's all I'm.going to say on the matter, because I will agree it is very disruptive. Once upon a time, character deaths were the norm, but Cantr has definitely changed into a much more intricate roleplaying experience. While no character should be immortal, they should at least have a properly roleplayed out death.

Even when I try and picture it entirely from the standpoint of the killer, I don't understand it. I literally cannot think of a single reason why it would be more entertaining or beneficial to not interact with your victim at any point while leisurely murdering them over the course of several days.
If anyone can offer one, please go ahead, I'm honestly curious to hear it.

Some people just play games to bring chaos to others. It's fun for them

This is the reason I'm in full agreement with Marian on this point.

Maybe they are players from games where really.. destroying other people is a way to go? Don't know if anyone here have played Travian or supremacy 1914 but you get the point. Of course they aren't same as role-playing game but you might have hard time to understand it's not okay if you have played games where it's okay.
Anyway, I agree with Marian too

I'm pretty sure if you properly read the info when you sign up to Cantr, that it says somewhere that this isn't the kind of game where you go about killing everyone, though it is mechanically possible.
It's one of the main attractions to the game for me, personally, because there are so few games that don't encourage it!

And how many reads these in general? How many read licence things in google or Apple or so? Don't think so many

And you are right, many games encourage or are build for it. But Cantr has so much more things that are unique.. wish we would have more players though

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I think it's perfectly understandable for people to get upset, but it is dangerous to jump from "that char killed my char" to the conclusion that "that player should be punished in real life". Actors who play villains in a movie or TV show are not that way off-set. It's no different with Cantr. We're all actors here.
Within the past 6 months I thought my 2nd eldest char was going to be murdered in cold blood. I'm embarrassed to admit that I did lash out at one of the players involved but later apologized. I was upset at the time, but at the end of the day this is just a game. I like to think I'm still on good terms with the other players involved in those events. Even if my char was killed, I would still think highly of the players.
Anyway, just a reminder that players are not their chars and please keep that separation in mind when venting.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
1. The person simply doesn't know how much of an impact their actions have on the other player. Not everyone is involved on the forums. There are casual players, not just the intense players we see here.
2. They could just be avoiding the chance for the victim to fight back. It makes sense as a tactic. Attack and leave before the other has a chance to respond. I've seen this being used by some of the oldest players in this game. And I'd caution anyone trying to say negative things about them.
3. They might just not be as good of a roleplayer, so they don't receive as much of a benefit from roleplaying out a situation. The action to them might simply be more entertaining than dialogue or interacting. That doesn't make them.a bad person, simply a bad roleplayer.

But how you determine bad roleplayer? I mean not all are great book writers and all and some are not even native english speakers Maybe it's lack of common language?
