Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
Some characters seem to believe they spawn like humans, and others seem to think they have babies. I just treat it the same way that some characters think people are dropped into a town, and others think they just blink into existence. I don't think there's not really a right way to look at it, but some characters are more accepting of other's ideas about this stuff.

The moment when your char introduces oneself in a new town and suddenly unfamiliar chars seem to have their opinions ready.

That's how it is these days, which is why I don't get on much anymore. Why waste time with characters (and players who obviously think "Oh...another newspawn) In fact, it's been harder and harder for me to care much anymore about this game. If it's not sleepiness, its the skewed opinions of people when a newspawn is just formed or about a character they obviously never heard of before and automatically hate them, or love them, either way it's hard to keep interest in this game any longer.

Variety is the spice of life... It may not be right that people have preconceptions but many do. If you're disheartened with how that's going, just try and act as differently as you can, get into a completely different mindset. If you only ever play heroes play a scared, delicate wimp, if you only play the intelligent and sassy type play a shy klutz. It only improves your writing/emotional range and opens up the game for everyone else.
There are those that give and there are those that take. There are those that play for the game and those that play for themselves. Figure out where you are and what would make your game better.
Be the change that you wish to see in the world...

I wonder if anyone that isn't used to kilograms ever gets confused about the weights in this game. I would be confused if it used pounds. Is the gram system as strange to the US as the pound system is to me?

I can't answer for everyone but I am from the US, so I can answer for me. I actually don't think grams are very weird (at least for item measurements) but that's because I used to be a science person. Pounds are pretty weird - but they're still what I use for people-weights because that's what I'm used to seeing on scales.
EDIT: For some reason I feel like this is an important point that needs clarification - the reason I'm no longer a science person isn't because I stopped liking science; it's because I suddenly became a computer person instead when my dad suggested I learn to program.

In Cantr I just take grams not as RL grams but as some weird made up fantasy measurement. It just doesn't make any sense otherwise. I can go outside right now and with my bare hands pick up a fallen branch that weighs a lot more than 300 grams aka a little over half a pound, and it won't take me an entire day to do it, either.

Exactly that for me too.

I could too, but it'll probably take me the entire day to work up the motivation.

Drugs have taught an entire generation of Americans the metric system.

In reality, all Americans are taught it both measurement systems, but the system of measurement that is typically used varies by class of item. Most consumer goods are measured in the classic systems (except, oddly, soft drinks... which uses both systems!), while science and drugs and a few other fields typically use metric. We do like to make a complicated mess of things around here, though.

So basically, where it's important you use metric, whenever it's okay to slack you just use the American system? *chuckles* That says enough about which one is better I'd say

I hate centimeters with a passion. Why would anyone use such a uselessly tiny measurement for anything? If someone says something is 60 centimeters long what do you even relate that too to picture it? Six inches is the length of my hand, the middle segment of my index finger is about an inch, and it's about two feet and a half feet from my shoulder to my fingertips...if that was good enough for the pioneer's it's good enough for me!

You're right. We should use decimeters.
