Yeah. In my opinion they should be as long as building descriptions. But GreeK already said earlier they wouldn't be increased so it's sort of useless to complain.

You'd think that the custom descriptions would be even longer than any of the native ones, since you're putting the extra time in to make it more fancy, you'd need the space to add details.

Ugh this, I was looking for a place to say this, but this doesn't seem fair, if it can be more than 160 characters already why is it less for custom descriptions? Sometimes I just want to change one little thing but I like the description there already, but I have to heavily alter the whole description to keep it under 160 characters because it's already like 200 characters =( it seems really weird.. unless the only reason is to limit players because they think we're going to do something wrong by having more room to write.

Also, if I can ask this here, is there any way yet to customize flower crowns? Because they don't use a needle or any other tool so I can't click on the scissors icon, does that mean clothes that don't use any tools to make can't be customized, or is there another way? Besides describing during the initial project. I doubt it but I just thought I would ask =)

Also, why the heck does it take just as long to completely redesign something after it's been made as it does to make it that way in the first place? I know I've ranted about this in the sugg board enough, but ugggg...

So far in my experience, it takes 25% of the time the original item took to make, to re-describe something. Like bone earrings take a day, changing them takes 2 hours, moccasins take 2 days so describing them takes 4 hours, etc. But that's just with clothing, I haven't tried describing other objects yet.

But cotton and denim -are- hard to make.

Some of my favorites (comes in sets)

flat cap
cotton shirt
formal wool vest/pullover sweater vest
hemp suspender
knickerbockers
leather shoes
would look somewhat like this
Image

flat cap
long sleeves cotton shirt
formal wool vest
snakeskin coat
plain leather belt
suit trousers
snakeskin shoes/leather shoes
I imagine this one to have the italian mafia look to it.

Plumed hat (optional)
silk crop top
cotton cloak
denim shorts
thigh length boots
this one somewhat more a female adventurer look. Imagine Tom Raider with a cloak and a medieval twist. Without the guns of course. The silk crop top would also look medieval.

Canvas sneakers. Cause they rocks.

EDITED : Least favorites
every tunic. (especially hemp)
leather pants...
waxed hemp trouser
oilskin trouser

Most of the hemp items actually. especially hemp blindfold... Won't they kinda hurt?

Imagine one day there would be.. hemp loin clothes, bras, and socks. Only the true hardcore would wear them and feel "comfortable".

Yeah, I wish it only took 1/8 of the time if you're doing it while in the manufacturing page, since you're not *changing* it, just *creating* it that way.

I might be misunderstanding, but if you are changing the description you are changing the way the item looks. That should take a fair amount of time, should it not? It's not so much an issue of shuffling some parts around, but usually the taking apart and putting it back together of the entire item of clothing (not literally, but I hope you get my point).

Personally I would've thought they'd make items only customizable once, to prevent endless unrealistic changes (things like a dress growing longer) but then again I can think of plenty examples to allow it (dyeing, remelting jewelry, time-affected clothing). I am happy enough to know that it is possible at all to make custom items now, although I, too, would have liked to see the character limit more realistic so the description doesn't end up shorter than it was.

Seko, would it be ok to extend this topic to any custom descriptions? I'd love to hear about buildings and swords and such as well.

I haven't really looked around much, but I don't recall seeing -any- custom room descriptions so far. They are simply on the location page right?

EDIT: Oh I feel stupid, this topic isn't about custom descriptions at all (or it wasn't intended to be, at least). Does a topic exist for that at all? Otherwise I'll create it.

I haven't seen any yet, either. It has such potential, too. :(

Some of my characters have them, and some people they know. I love being able to describe the rooms. Also one of mine is involved in a project that's going to rely heavily on building descriptions if it's carried out completely. I try to make building descriptions in any home or room that belongs to my character unless it's a character that never uses their room/never would need to bring another person in there so I don't feel I need to show off.

There, now we have a proper topic for it. Sorry this thread went off-topic so much.
