Travel speed & disassembling - survey results

Postby Greek » Sat Apr 26, 2014 10:21 pm

Do you remember survey we all filled a few weeks ago?
I wanted to publish these results a bit earlier, but forum was down and then I was rather busy. They are finally there. :)
504 players have filled in the survey, which can be perceived as almost exact number of really active players. That's similar to number of respondents one and two years ago, so player base is stable, but definitely it would be better to have more players.

Question: Do you think the current land traveling speed is correct?
Possible answers:
1. yes
2. no, it's too slow
3. no, it's too fast
4. correct for motor vehicles, but the rest are too slow
5. too fast for motor vehicles, but the rest are correct
6. too fast for motor vehicles, while the rest are too slow
7. no opinion
8. other

Results (answers are numbered as above):

Many answers consist of two parts, so it might be easier to look at them on two separate charts: for motor vehicles and the rest.

It looks like players are generally happy about motor vehicles and feel that non-motor vehicles and foot travel are generally too slow. Many people had no opinion about the matter.

Please remember about already announced idea of horseback riding, which - when it will be implemented - can significantly affect division between vehicles with and without engine.

Question: Do you think the current sailing speed is correct?
Possible answers:
1. yes
2. no, it's too slow
3. no, it's too fast
4. for big ships with sails it's correct, but small ones are too slow
5. for big ships with sails it's too fast, but for small ones it's correct
6. for big ships with sails it's too fast, but for small ones is too slow
7. no opinion
8. other

Results (answers are numbered as above):

Divided into big and small ships:

More than 20 percent of respondents had no opinion. These are probably people who didn't have enough time to try sailing or are not interested in this game aspect.

Regardless of survey results, it's planned that wind will affect sailing speed, but it's a quite complicated thing we are still working on and it can take us much time.

Disassembling
Question: If it'd be possible to disassemble some tools to get part of the resources back, will any of your characters do it with their own property?

Image

It's important that survey is about disassembling own stuff, not robbery.

People are rather supportive. I can reveal that disassembling of portable objects is already technically possible and RD has just to decide about disassembling time and other parameters.
‘Never! Run before you walk! Fly before you crawl! Keep moving forward! You think we should try to get a decent mail service in the city. I think we should try to send letters anywhere in the world! Because if we fail, I’d rather fail really hugely’

Thanks for the awesome graphs! This is really interesting, and I can't wait to see what the final consensus will be.
