Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr

Yes, there are a lot of redheads in Cantr. It's Cantr's version of brunettes in RL. I only have one, but she's surrounded by others.

Hair growth - I just don't have time to RP it. It's just one of those Cantrisms where a character can maintain themselves in any state they want indefinitely.

I've roleplayed hair growth and haircuts and I've also not roleplayed hair growth.

I've also only had one explicitly stated redhead who is now dead... my Spanish character was supposed to be redhead (like a really really dark red) but I end up imagining it more as just black. So it's just described as dark.

How about straight vs curly vs inbetween (ex: wavy) vs unstated?
Since I have straight hair, I imagine most of my characters to have straight hair unless it's explicitly stated otherwise.

None of my characters have facial hair. I don't really say much about what the hair looks like apart from colour, but some have unkempt and/or shoulder-length hair, whilst one has very long hair. They don't tend to go grey as they age, so my oldest ones in their eighties are still brunets even though most real life humans are grey/white haired by that age.

No prizes for guessing that I have dark brown hair and blue eyes (with some green in the middle). I have had blond characters before, don't think I have had red-haired, grey-haired or bald characters before. You could make an argument that my "dark-haired, green eyed character" could have auburn or dark red hair rather than black or dark brown hair.

Not annoys but definitely puzzles me. Or at the very least, it deeply surprises me. How the Milgram experiment and its consequences hold true even in Cantr. For those of you who are out of the loop, the Milgram experiment was this fairly well-known thing where researchers convinced regular people to participate in fucked up stuff like electrocuting someone in another room when the person got an answer wrong, by telling the participants that the person in the chair was a psychological test subject. What the participants didn't know is that the people in the chair were all just actors and instead they themselves were the experiment, the goal of which to see was the extent to which people will participate in something that normally violates their personal morality if commanded by an authority figure. This is one of those things that you would expect to be quite different from real life but I've been pleasantly and horrifically surprised to find that in some cases, there is a lot of similarity between real life and the psychology of many Cantr chars.


I've seen similar scenarios from several chars of mine on both sides of the conflict, where some kind of trouble starts, people get upset, fingers get pointed, and maybe there's even some violence involved. Having to react quickly, leaders make a choice and decide who if anybody to drag to jail and who can remain free. Well, they gotta make a choice, right? Can't sit around debating forever. But often their choice is controversial. Maybe they sentence the criminals to a long sentence or death, or maybe they determine innocence where the rest of the town believes the suspect guilty. Others in the town voice discontent, but do nothing else. They often not only abide by the ruling and maintain civility, but will even help with the decision they so strongly claim to disagree with. They'll betray their own friends, spouses even in some cases. It's a little unnerving.

Here are mine. While I admit I have one redhead, it's certainly not a common pattern for me. In fact, I was surprised at how many blondes I have compared to general population:

Okay I've waited quite a while before I posted this and excuse me for being vague as I dont want to single anyone out or start an argument, but there's something that really annoys me I see here often. That is when people discuss in game events on the forum but they still skew or spin them in defense of their characters actions. Out of character to me should be impartial if my character does something wrong I will admit it if I speak of it on here. I wont continue to spin in game events in their defense while posting OOC about it.

Here's a fabricated example.

Member Q makes a post saying I like Townville, there's good people there though I dont know why Susie doesnt like my character George. I think she just has a bad attitude toward men. All the while knowing that George tried to rape Susie 10 years ago in game and the person that plays Susie either didnt see the post or doesnt want to out their character.

To me this is borders on CRB because you have someone trying to influence in game events and opinions in an OOC manner. People and cities get reputations via the forum when they shouldn't.

I think we'll always get that on the forum, especially if people become emotionally invested in their characters or if they don't like another player for either IG or OOC reasons.
