Not enough space in note

Postby formerly known as hf » Mon Oct 04, 2004 9:50 am

Hi,

I've written a (long...) note, but when I store it and view it again, the last section of it is missing - it just stops mid sentence...

I assume this is because of a limit on the space allowed in a note - I can see you wouldn't space taken up by thousands of really long notes...

But is there anyway around this, or do I have to resort to the note being in two parts?

Sounds like an error, I've never encountered a limit on the length of a note before and I'm willing to bet that i've created some of the longest notes you'll ever find. (armedian's map for example, 30+ pages printed out)

Not an error ...I too have a character with a journal which she had to split into two notes due to it's length.

Or, if it is an error then I also have the same problem. (Yay for word pad or I'd have lost half of the last entry in the 1st note of her her journal due to the same problem thats being mentioned above.)

Maybe there's a limit to characters then - Mine's long, and also very dense...

Just going to have to deal with seperate notes for now I suppose...

It's likely a limit of your browser. Maybe a limit of our apache config. In both cases, we're not going to do anything about it, because it's much easier just to split the notes.

Sorry for the trouble.

No worries - was just wondering if it was just me or a common problem... You're right, easier to just put it into a number of seperate notes... Just done it...

There is a limit, indeed. I don't know whether it's a browser, webserver, or database limit, but I know there is one :) ... I stumbled on it myself a while ago. You'll have to split the notes, indeed.

Does anyone know what the limit is?
It would be a big help, so that you don't have to rewrite some extensive story just because it gets cut up...

I've tested this myself, and it appears to be just a few bytes less than 64K (65,536).

If it's aboiut 64k, it'll be a database limit, Jos. And IIRC, that is the max for a MySQL text field.
