Isn't there a way to put a 24-hour delay for posting after registration? (Real people could still use email to get support.) And I think that phpBB has other features to fight spam, e.g., a custom mandatory question. The spambots are automated, so its best to fight fire with fire.

That doesn't help. We're still getting spam on the wiki, from accounts created in May (before I turned off wiki registration). And those are accounts that never posted before.
