I'm with Sunni, Arenti, although it might be different from one person to another. My Hades died from leukemia and I know I would have never forgiven myself if I hadn't spent that last moments with him. He'll just fall into a deep sleep, no pain, no ache.
Gosh, I'm really sorry for you. Guess I get too emotional with this situations.

Just be strong and think that suffering will end for him and that you, his most loved one, will be by his side til the last second so he won't feel alone but loved and maybe even relieved.

Our cat Faith had to be put down nine years ago as of 13 days ago (yep, 3/3/03), about three weeks before she would have turned eighteen. Her kidneys started to fail, and all she did was drink from the toilet and howl in pain. I remember her fur got all matted and stiff around her tail. Anyway, they got it done while I was at school, I was in second grade (7 years old), and of course my parents didn't tell me the whole story until many many many years later. I was upset when I realized what had really gone on; my parents had sugar-coated it for me ("She just lied down to go to sleep, and she never woke up."). Do you guys know how long I was scared to go to sleep at night because I was afraid I'd never wake up again? Ugghhh.

Anyway, it's long over now. We've got another one who's not far from heading down that road; she's nearly seventeen, which isn't bad for a cat, but I think my mom's ready to let her go, especially since Ninja keeps bullying her, and we can only imagine what he might be doing to her at night when we're not around to hiss him away. Ninja's definitely a bully.

Our friends had to put down their cat recently. He was over nineteen years old and ended up with feline diabetes and kidney failure, and Alzheimer's that caused him to howl at the top of his lungs at night (in the bathroom, too, so it was really echoey), and some kind of skin problem around his neck where his fur had been licked almost clean off. It was extremely hard on my friend's mom because she's such a cat person (even more than me, if you can believe it).

On a brighter note, I've been playing Minecraft almost nonstop since I got home. I'm trying to build a double-helix out of iron blocks and glass blocks (it's impossible to tell I'm on Creative Mode, right? :P) and I've also built a spooky prison system involving a room half-built in bedrock and a single line of obsidian leading all the way to the other side of the exit, built over a huge pool of lava. The exit's going to feed into a stone labyrinth with no torches, and in general the thing's supposed to drive the prisoner crazy. It drives me crazy, actually. lol

Aaaaaand.....

SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!

Well we won't be going today. He went well through the night. He's hungry and as long we keep him out of the room he does his thing where he should do it. Anyway he wanted to eat and no longer was crawling away, and he even walks better.

Congratulations on your cat feeling better, Arenti. :)

My 3000th post!

My mom and I wanted to get out of the house, but we didn't want to go to Park Avenue in Winter Park because there's some Arts festival happening there today and they're expecting somewhere around 350,000 people to be there, which means no parking within probably three or four miles of the place. So we went to Whole Foods Market again, and discovered this kind of goat cheese that goes amazingly well with these fig preserves and water crackers.... it's like a little piece of heaven the way they served it. We bought a nice chunk of cheese about the size of my fist and a small jar of the fig spread....it's all gone already. lol

Question: How do you turn off the GPS tracker thing for Facebook on an Android phone? I NEED to know since I accidentally turned it on today and can't find it in the settings to turn it off.

I just washed my husbands phone, wallet and glasses in the washing machine. I think I'll go and finish that bottle of wine I opened last night to drown yesterdays sorrows. 2pm might be a bit early, better wait an hour and hope the kids keep quiet about it.

Once (I think last year) my dad fell outside and got blood on his pants, so my mom washed them and didn't notice the wallet in the pocket. I'd just given him a new picture of me to keep in his wallet since the old one was from when I was a kid. The old picture turned into pulp, the new picture stayed together but the colors came off, only leaving a ghastly outline.

Went to the vet today. (for the cat no myself, for those of you who think I'm not human, partly right though) he seems to be getting through this after all. With some more treatment he will likely be able to make it, and cancelling out the at the most a month to live. He will likely not be dying because of this. The vet was glad we were willing to pay for the expenses and not just let him put to sleep because we don't want to bother paying for an old cat. Which we gladly do. He's not just a cat for us, he's our friend. :)

I have just excelled myself.
I should write a book on being an airhead, given what an expert I make at being one. :?
Thank you for helping me out you guys - you know who you are.

I went to a Gala Dinner last night for the end of an International Conference hosted in my city. It was lovely, old world feel, affair with entertainment of the 1940's. Big band tunes and dancing with spectacular river views, I had a nice time with colleagues.

The conference was as usual (people present technical papers on their own research) except within the theme of 'Zero Harm' (in the Alumina Industry) several social scientsts presented papers for the first time in my experience. For me it was like an awakening and maturing of the industry, giving context and substance to some vague ideas scientists had been bandying around for some time. The concept of a license to operate is not new or even a 'social' license to operate, but it was used in some explicit ways and examples and bodes well for the future of the mining industry if it's recognised and our communities insist on it. Some cultures have already embraced these ideas but others have a long way to go, so here's hoping we leave something to our grandchildren's grandchildren worth having.
