Thinking about quitting.....

Staring at the X for too long does funny things to one's mind.
A couple of you have been my rock during crappy times, which seem like they will be continuing into the foreseeable future. Between that and other difficulties, Cantr is becoming a chore than anything else - I think it's time to cut back (I only say that because of one of mine, except for her, I'd have hit the X) at least, to just have a breather. I don't have any leaders (the one I have is non- English and is to survive) or significant chars so no worries there. Just one thing though, my choices are no reflection on chars with whom mine interact - I have been blessed to know many great chars. I can't even say that there will be any logic to it. Echoing my earlier words to a fellow.... "I don't claim to be rational." *stares at her character list*
Edit: Funny enough, the game is down and I -can't- stare at my list.

Sadly, I have been tempted by it a great deal lately, and but for a couple of other chars..? Who knows...

I guess this is a feeling that is spreading lately... Of all my chars, just three of them are giving me a good enough reason to login.
Three are already gone, and there are more in the list... they could be going soon too, I think.
The X is tempting, but I know I would miss those three chars (and I know that I'll miss some on that blacklist, too).
Maybe I just need some time away...

Yes, it is a really sad feeling to see in other's posts. It seems now it is a kind of contagious epidemic.

Indigo described perfectly how it works for me right now, I have only 3 chars from 10 that really make me have the need of login in -and I'm getting too endogamic and selfish with those chars and who they interact to-, and I'm not sure if it's enough, 3/10 it's a really bad average.

A couple of days ago, I was staring at the X button for a long time and in an incredible orgy of extreme hypocrisy, at the same time I was trying to decide wether to confirm or not, I was trying to discourage a friend from quitting and trying to convince another one to join... I do really think that it'd be grand having new people around to bring some freshness, new chars, new ideas, new situations... But... there's always a But with capital B for me lately.

1/9 is worse than 3/10, and that's where I'm sitting right now. It reminds me of Miranda, in the movie Serenity, where they pumped some gas into the air that made 99.9% of the population so passive that they just let themselves starve, while the other .1% became flesh-eating lunatics. Granted, most of my issues stem from a forced re-prioritization due to real-life obligations, but the "drive" simply isn't there anymore. While I only look forward to playing 1/9, each of those other 8 has periods of fun, and that's enough for me for now.

To be honest, at the moment I have no attachments to any of my characters, and I have become content with checking only a few characters within several days. I haven't considered unsubbing; there are just some characters and places that I don't know what they'd do without mine. Most of my characters don't have any real goals anymore except to just live. And make snarky remarks every so often.

That being said, I think someone unsubbed last night. That's two more of my characters without another reason to live.

I've never unsubbed or ever officially quit (though I've barely caught my account from timing out before). I have gone through long periods of not playing and letting natural selection take majorities of my characters, but never have had to restart entirely.

I have 14 characters.

3 of them I really like because the people who are around him
1 i enjoy, but he might a swell be considered a traveling simmer. I could care less if he or the rest died.

I unsubbed once like, 20 months ago. I regret two of those characters dying.

I quit and then came back years later. I still remember a few of my chars from the first time I played, and boy do I miss them. I wish there were a way to get them back. They never really saw their full potential. If I had known then what I know now, I would have just cut the chars I wasn't attached to and kept the few I was. I still miss Frankie most of all, there will never be another one like her. *sighs*

Yeah, I'm burned out on all but two of mine. I'd never dream of quitting because of those two, but I think I'm going to let myself off the hook on those others for as long as I need to. If they survive until I'm ready to play them again, then I guess that's a sign or something... I know of one character who slept for a good Cantr decade, but now he's awake and around. Granted, my character is only one of two that actually remembers him, but still...its fun watching him get to know all of the newer people. Maybe that'll be some of my characters in six months or so.

One of mine only barely survived one of my breaks... she has become my absolute favorite. She was far from a favorite before (one of those you spawn and then it's like, meh, and then she was also very young when I took the break), but the circumstances under which she woke were just too interesting to not take advantage of fully.
