Meh... slow Monday. I slept the afternoon away and now I can't figure out what to do.

Also, this whole planning a wedding thing is getting to be a pain in the butt. We didn't really want it at a church, but due to lack of options, we decided to get some information from his mom's church. Well, right when she goes in there to get a packet, some other couple brings in their deposit for October 20, the day we had chosen. We'd already changed our date once because this lady I work with has a son who is getting married in Illinois on the 13th. *sigh* I wish he'd just be okay with us doing it at the movie theater where we met. Yeah, its kinda dingy there and we might have to cut down on people a little bit, but it'd be free and I have so many cute ideas. And there's a reception hall right across the street. Plus, its an important place in my life in several ways, and two people I'm really close to still work there.

Hmmm.. either it stopped, or I have gone deaf. 50/50 shot either way. On another (humorous) note: this morning, I was on Cantr, and I had arrived in a new place. I thought I was on character A's screen, and I went about gathering some resources. I was about to slay me some animals, when I realized that I was actually on my lojban character's page. The fact that the first two pages were written in lojban didn't register. Guess that's a good thing. Means I'm getting so fluent I didn't even notice the foreignness of it. I only realized upon seeing the animal names, which are complicated and unfamiliar enough lojban that I said, "waitasec! That's lojban!"

I feel your pain, gejyspa. We have renovations going on at our apartment building, and every morning I wake up to the sound of workers putting up scaffolding right outside my window. So much for sleeping in.

My pet blue rat, Neptune, is about a year old and has a severe lung infection that's making it harder for him to breathe. He's not going to make it very long. I've been stressing for days over my poor little guy, but there's nothing I can do. I know people don't think the same way I do when they see or hear the word rat. But you own one from baby to senior and you'll find it hard not to love them. They're so smart and personable and they do the most unexpected things that make them so entertaining and lovable. But they only live 2 to 3 years at the most, and they're so weak against certain pathogens that don't even affect us. They're really the ideal pet when it comes to tameness and low-maintenance, but sometimes it's really hard watching them turn from little babies to adults and then having to lose them so soon. On some very small scale I can understand the feeling of a parent watching a child grow up too fast. I wish it didn't bother me so much, I know how long they live and it's the happiness they feel during life that matters. But I just had to get it out. I don't have that many people to talk to IRL.

We've had rabbits and one died before christmas of a mosquito borne disease. It was heartbreaking to watch. I know where you're at. :(

I'm sorry about Neptune, Miirkaelisaar. You've described perfectly how it feels sharing your home, time and love with one of those cute little furries.
After all, they're a part of the family, at least that's how I feel about the zoo I have at home... I've promised myself "no more rats" just because of how fast you miss them and by now I'm keeping my promise, but I guess that's mostly because I'm sharing a 110 m2 flat with a crazy cat, a big dog and, temporarily, a friend's ferret :S

Except no chance of a rat, the day it is born, running into your closet and dashing out the door with your crossbow.

We've never had rats, but we have had mice and a dwarf hamster (and fish, and a parakeet, and three dogs. Currently, we have two dogs who together outweigh me by about 30 pounds). Yup, pet deaths can definitely be hard. The mice (Frisky, Cornflower, and, I'm ashamed to admit I forget the third one's name) and hamster (Purim) are buried in the back yard. The vet took
care of the parakeet (Tuvia) and beagle-mix (Buster)

I don't know...I had three rats and I swear one of them took my crossbow.

Oh wait, it's hanging in the garage now...ok, I remember now. Hubby wouldn't let me have it up after the baby was born. So it wasn't the rats...
