Rantrantrantrant....
People who abuse insurance companies to squeezes every drop out of them for the tiniest of accidents make the people who really need the money look bad.
I can't give names or relations to myself, but some time ago person A slipped off the brake and hit the gas pedal on accident, hitting person B from behind, pretty hard, but not even enough for a fender bender. Person B gets out of the car, clearly fine, and persons A and B exchange insurance information. Person A's insurance pays for any damages done to person B's car, and all is fine and dandy. Or so they thought. Person A gets a letter in the mail saying that person B is suing person A's insurance company for the highest amount they can get, even so far as to get an attorney for a very well-known company in the area.
Meanwhile, person C, while sitting in their car at a red light, was rear-ended by person D, an old man who shouldn't've been driving in the first place, and who hadn't seen that the light was red. Person C sustains serious injuries and undergoes multiple surgeries to repair the damage, but still remains in severe pain. Those surgeries, therapy, etc. all amount to around $20,000, possibly (probably) more. Person C has a job to do, a family to feed, and a kid to raise. When person C tries to obtain reimbursement from person D's insurance company, person C is treated horribly, like a leech whose only purpose is to drain them of money.
I'm not denying that person B might not have a job to do or a family to raise or kids to feed. But, to me, it seems pointless to try to scrape money from a situation that's already been cleaned up, other than for straight up greed. Then again, it might seem greedy for person A to think the thought in that last sentence.
In other news, I'm in the family room watching TV with my friend (who doesn't and won't play Cantr) and her dad. She's reading, he's flipping channels. I'm not really supposed to be online right now, but it's either that or listen to my mom tell my friend's mom a hundred embarrassing 'me' stories I've heard a thousand times before.

I'm on a high.
Managed to get through a research review meeting with flying colours. A lot of hard work just paid off for my research team.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
The rant about people demanding unnecessary antibiotics on the last page reminded me of when I had that cold and ear infection earlier this year. I did go to the doctor for it (but of course by that time I had started to really clear up, as Murphy would have it). They checked me out, whatever, prescribed some generic brand of Cefdin, which is an antibiotic.
I wasn't there to obtain a placebo to make myself feel better. When I'd told my mom that I wanted to visit the doctor, I'd just had a hard night and wanted really to know if I wasn't just being a hypochondriac. (I'm one of those people who would have to be dead or dying before I'll go to the doctor, and I just felt horrible that night, so it counted.) But I'm not one of those people who refuses to believe they're going to ever get better unless they get antibiotics; in fact, if I don't strictly need the medicine, then I don't want it. I know the cold was viral, but was the ear infection? Were those antibiotics really necessary, or did the doctor just give me them because he assumed I was one of those people?
Which brings me to another point. A few years ago, my dad and I both had really bad upper respiratory infections and went to the doctor with very similar symptoms. However, my dad went to the Florida Hospital CentraCare outlet, and my mom dragged me to my pediatrician despite my pleas to let me go with my dad (screaming, fighting 3yo's are not fun to listen to). We got different diagnoses: the people at CentraCare told my dad that he had a bacterial infection, told him to keep taking Robitussen, and prescribed him a strong antibiotic and Nasonex; my pediatrician labelled it as a virus, told us no more Robitussen, and prescribed me a prescription expectorant which tasted roughly like earwax (unfortunately I'm not exaggerating; it was that disgusting) and Nasonex.
I dunno. Just thought it was interesting.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
My computer's acting bizarre. Only the mouse is responsive at all, and I can't click, scroll, type... I can't even shut it down unless I force it. Since I'd rather not do that, I'm now waiting the three or four hours it'll take to drain the battery, and then I'll reboot it.
I wasn't doing anything different with it when it became like that... I hope I don't have a virus.
Edit:. Well, I got it to work again after successfully getting it to sleep. But now I have to refresh the pages on the Cantr forum because they keep freezing and I have to kill them. Same with Dragon Cave, but not as bad. I'm going to close some programs and run a scan and see what happens.
Edit 2:. I did a full reboot. It seems to be working again. Now. Back to making character images and MIDI files.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Theatre performance this evening (again.)
There was too cold at the dressing room yesterday, and I didn't feel really good, so today my head and my ears hurt, I'm sure I've catched a cold and I don't dare to talk because I know my throat is going to hurt a lot...
I think my bipolar character is going to seem less bipolar than yesterday... *Sighs and coughs.*

Everyday the X is looking better and better. All interesting char have died, are sleeping, or no longer effect my chars lives. The radio is a nightmare and has ruined the joy of even sitting in a car, I'm sick of -players- (and you know who you are because you get the same reaction every time) trying to control how I rp even if my characters are older, in better stations in life than the other, and are not breaking any laws.

I would like to thank the player that told me OCC to shut the fuck up today in a text based game. I hope you know how stupid you sounded. If you need a piece of my real mind you can send me a message and I can talk to you out of char so maybe you can tell the difference between a char in a game that is male and 27 and 43 year old woman that was trying to remain calm while you had a go at her. You char screams OCC hate for mine and only shows that your rp sucks donkey.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
It feels like most characters I and mine used to know and care about have died or sleep a lot. Most of my characters don't have many active characters around them and in most cases those characters are irrelevant to me. I can't find interest in their lives, it's just noise. Still I read everything. I've even made new characters in the recent ig years since I've been bored, but two of them have rather empty lives, third one is too new to say yet. I wouldn't mind if some of my characters died.
Also I don't feel like doing anything for ProgD either. I don't even have the energy to read the emails anymore. I used to read all of them but now there's over 40 unread. *facepalm*
