Or you could read the wikipedia article, which should be reasonably reliable:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antibiotic_resistance

You might also want to read the linked article about antibiotic misuse.

I'm a pharmacist here in Spain... I get angry like fifteen times a day when I see prescriptions for last generation cephalosporins and quinolons for a simple flu, most of the times. And a flu doesn't need to be trated with antibiotics! Amoxicilin? Here in Spain is a minor antibiotic now, it's almost a placebo, mostly used in dental infections, and always with clavulanic acid (due to the betalactamases, a bacterial method of resistance for penicillins very comon here). We're the most unresponsible country in the antibiotic misuse, and that's bad not only fot the person who takes it, but also for all the community, cause it makes the rates of resistances increase, and currently, compared to the USA, they are truly sad.

So, people who go to the physician and insist on getting antibiotic (most of the times here that's the main reason for a prescription, specially in private health), stop doing it!

I've seen that, Naranjita, and worse, people -asking- the doctors for antibiotics for a simple cold... come on, people. Your bodies can fight a cold by themselves, take painkillers for the symptoms and let your bodies work. I think that most of times this it's directly related to that attitude that some people seem to have, that if they aren't in antibiotics it's like they aren't "ill", and they're like "oh, I'm really ill, see, the doctor put me on antibiotics", or "what, won't you prescribe antibiotics? But I -am- sooooo ill"
This country is in a great need of a good health education. That would reduce the deficit of our system, and not the stupid actions that government is taking regarding the health system (like, after spamming us for years that women should go to the gynecologist once a year to prevent or early diagnosis for some types of cancer, they now schedule you for three years. What the hell? In three years, the silent cervix cancer will have killed you). Health education should start by doctors, but with the 4 minutes they are given to attend a patient, there's not much they can actually do.

Well I'm just like my father, before I go see a doctor I need to be close to dying lol, my father had pain for a long time and when he finally wasn't able to go on working he went to see a doctor, and my favourite was picked up there by ambulance and was in hospital for a few weeks because of heart problems, a few days longer of waiting and he would have been dead now.

I hypothesized the use of genetically engineering bacteriophages to attack bacterial infections when I was getting my bachelor's degree. Of course, I was a naive student and didn't realize how brilliant the idea actually was, as it was one hypothesis that was quickly buried by stupid crap like thinking up ways science could make real zombies or vampires. (I also developed the hypothesis that modern viruses are actually remnants of the immune systems of a long extinct species, a hypothesis that still intrigues me). If I were a much more ambitious person, I could have talked to my advisor about it, did PhD work on it, and maybe have been on the vanguard of that research. But I decided starting a family was more important, and I got the dead-end job that I'm currently in and have no plans on leaving. Such is the way of things. I wouldn't trade my family for any of it.

If you're at Golden Corral with your band and you're fighting with three other bands for food and there's a WalMart within walking distance....go to the WalMart instead and eat at the McDonalds inside. -nodnod-

I wish I knew how to post the picture but for those that have been keeping up to date, Trae had her baby today. I am now the proud aunt of a beautiful baby niece. She was 8 lbs, 8 oz. 19.5 inches long. And not near as big as the doctors thought. :D

So, if you're worried about what's on your walls on social networking sites (ex: for work), reppler.com and klout.com will do free scans and rates you based on questionable content, how influential you are, etc.

I'm going to try this out when I get home later today.
