Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Had a great weekend. Friday went out to celebrate my friend's birthday. Saturday had dinner with my family then headed to the 311 concert (with Sublime and Rome). Sunday went to Knott's Berry Farm with my sister and my oldest 2 kids. It was great. I am sooo tired though, and had no time for Cantr. One more reason to get a smart phone...internet on the go.

I did! Oh geez...it is going to take me days to catch up, and I can't! My sister is still here.

Like SumBum said, get her addicted, too (I know, I know, this is just my interpretation of it).

Somehow I missed it. Even though everyone else in the city felt it.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Second earthquake of my life. Felt the first one when I was living in Worcester, Massachusetts about 26 years ago.
This one, they evacuated our buildings for about 15 minutes. My wife, meanwhile, who was actually heading towards the epicenter, was about 40 miles away from it when it hit, and she didn't feel a thing. My sister-in-law, on the other hand, who lives only about 21 miles away from the epicenter, sure did.
What fun.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
My home town was devastated by an earthquake 12 years ago. It was massive at 7.4 magnitude. I was at my dad's house at the time, a big detached house on a hill with a big garden. I swear I thought the house was going to topple down the hill. I remember crossing my hands over my head thinking "if the ceiling comes crashing down, I'll definitely have my arms broken, but I may just be able to keep my head safe. I know it sounds ridiculous but at that time the panic and the adrenaline kick in and coherent thought flies out of the window.
I spent about a month out in my dad's garden in a tent (just the thought is enough to make me feel suffocated) and the school garden in front of my grandma's house, sleeping out in the open with 60 odd other people. It was August so it wasn't too bad, but try living without electricity and hot water and other little luxuries you take for granted for a month... It is awful. One thing I will never forget is the smell after a couple of days after the 'quake, with so many dead bodies crushed in collapsed buildings... The unofficial records held the dead count at 47,000 people. The most horrible experience of my life.
I hope that was a fairly small one and everyone is safe out there

Some of you might not like this and might not like this here on the forums, but I'm posting it anyway. For those of you that do pray and believe in prayer. My family could use them badly. Trae (my sister) is pregnant with her first child and doing well, she's due November 11th. She could use them, however...the more urgent one that we need serious prayer for is my sister in law Lara and my brother Chris. They have been trying to have a baby for a while and she's had several miscarriages. Lara has had a fight with cancer in the past and went into remission. Everything was going well but within the last few weeks we've learned that the cancer is back. Today she went in to see about a certain procedure she was supposed to have done for it. But to her surprise they've found out she is now 7 weeks pregnant as well. We REALLY need prayers for that sweet baby, and his/her family. I would appreciate it so much for any of you that can do so and are willing.

I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't like it posted here.
I don't believe in prayer, but I can certainly offer my most sincere best wishes and hopes that both babies are healthy and stay that way. I've had to deal first hand with miscarriage and know how difficult it is to deal with even when you were neither hoping for nor particularly ready to have a baby. There's always the worry, especially for the woman, about the ability to carry a pregnancy to term down the road. I can't even begin to imagine the worry that cancer adds on top of that. I will keep your sister and sister-in-law in my thoughts, and hope that everything turns out in the best way possible.
