Apparently I didn't know the full truth either. The process seems to be more complicated than I thought.

I guess we could have a generator that converts water, gas (or propane) and some kind of fuel into hydrogen.
Pretty in pink.

hmmm? the ideas i made were for the simpler, slower types of air craft. the ones that use fuel go fast and are primo were not my target, since the fuel consumption thing is a difficult one.

for the zeppelin, i only said raw gas since this is cantr and the quantity of raw gas would have to be high but if we want to make some kind of process for a new resource to use to fill it with we could try that.

with regards to the motion of machines, like the ornithopter, if we wanted we could imagine similar propulsion for the zepplin, which would require wing parts like the ornithopter.

though with fuel consumption... isn't it just, units fuel/distance travelled with a weight factor? so, regardless of road or free range shouldn't it work?

and with regards to the ORNITHOPTOR
change what i said about it being a tandem with wings, we cannot have 2200 grams of iron and steel, rather, replace the iron and steel with aluminum and tin, this will be very very expensive and somewhat of a challenge just to make the 'simplest' air craft, the materials have to be light to compensate for the structure, then it would need the wing componants
the wings would be made from another componant the wing frame , this with some hide and some water for steam, somehting to boil that water, an oven of sorts or some new machine,
attach 2 of those wings to the ornithoptor frame and it's ready to go with capacity of 135000 grams, similar to tandems and dinghys and it's base speed (like boats and ships) could be 20? no less that's for sure

Ah found it...
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

In real life you can create hydrogen in a couple ways.
thermolysis -> heating water above 1800 degree Celcius will decompose the water molecules and give hydrogen and oxygen. Is needs a big power souce (mostely nuclear) But it is more efficient than elektrolysis -> Run elektricity through clean water (with some Sulfuricacid or Sodiumsulfate [can be foud in sea salt] added) using a grafiet (could be made ingame with coal) or platinum, not copper (will disolve if I'm correct). Which is contained in a glass apparatus.

There should be some more ways, but I don't know them.

I would suggest making a glass cassing and 2 grafiet of platinum rods a couple wires (doesn't matter which type), which makes the elektrolyses machine. For the energy source you could use lots of Lemons, patatoes, apples or something else and as a tool some copper plates and wires. If it is an automatic machine which I would reccomend I would integrade the copper plates and wires in the machine. Then just add water (with mabe some salt or proccesed salt) and that would make the hydrogen

This procces should be slow or require a huge ammount of Lemons, patatoes, apples... or require a larger more complex energy source.

I really hope that these are implemented in a balanced way.

Make the early ones slow and require fuel or some kind of new/rarer resources.
Or something like that.

Could always make it like normal vehicle travel when you're on land. And when you end up on the ocean (by sort instant undocking I guess) make it like sea travel.

I'm not really a fan of airplanes in Cantr.

Airships, though... that would be another thing

+1 to airships.
