Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I am going back to work today after a week long vacation. I feel like I accomplished nothing while I was off like I was supposed to. Dang it.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
OK, here's a post to liven things up and save us all from puns. I started my day having to clean up a murder scene on my deck and the bloody aftermath on my living room carpet. One of the dogs found a box turtle. Usually they just play with them or chew on the edge or their shells... Guess she had enough time this morning before I let them back inside to actually break through the shell and kill the poor thing. I didn't notice she brought it inside to continue until I heard crunching.... I feel awful for the turtle.
My mornings are enough of a rush because I like to sleep as late as possible - I don't factor in time for such things! Plus, the garbage men are going to hate me this week... I now have a 2 birds and a turtle in my can that will roast for another two days before pickup.
And then just found out that we're likely to have 6 furlough days in the coming year (fiscal year starts July). Great... 4 unpaid days this year was bad enough.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Well, last night my kids' school had their last Israeli Memorial Day/Israeli Independence Day program. Usually the highlight of the year, last night it was clear that news of the school closing put a small damper on stuff -- kids screwing up on the music and stuff. Some of it was good, but it just wasn't the usual quality.
My wife had a root canal today -- it went well. The last time she was in tremendous pain, so this time she went to a different guy, and it wasn't so bad.
Sunday night, me and the kids went out to another family's house to play board games for a few hours. It happened to also be a surprise party for one of their kid's friend's 16th birthday (surprise to my hostess, too
), so there was a lot of teenagers. Good time had by all. I won a 5 player game of Ticket to Ride (American edition), my 13yo won Settlers of Catan (not played to completion, cause we had to go), but my 7yo lost Fish Eat Fish. We are going to do this again, on a Sunday that is not Mother's Day, so we will have more time (next time it will probably be at our house).

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Don't eat school cafeteria food.
Ever.
Lately it's been giving me really bad stomachaches and I can't sit straight comfortably afterward until I relieve myself. It hurts worse than normal. I don't know if it's bloating or if it's related to the other stuff I've been experiencing lately, or if the food is really that bad for me. It starts immediately after eating that stuff, and I never get it in the mornings for breakfast or evenings for dinner.
But the problem with me bringing my own lunch in is that it would mean that I have to get up earlier than I do, and like SumBum, I like to sleep in until the last possible second. This usually means I wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, go back to bed (usually with Snick), and then hurriedly get ready for school ten minutes before it's time to leave, which means I have no time to make lunch. Maybe I should stop staying up until midnight playing Cantr.
Plus, we don't buy food for me to take to school because I so rarely actually make myself lunch....like, two or three days out of the entire 180-day school year. (Band camp is different. If I don't make lunch, I don't eat at all, and I don't have to wake up as early those weeks anyway.)

400 Km by car, 3 exams (eating school cafeteria food
between two of them) and another 400 km again... In... 30 hours. Argh.

Why don't you just make it the night before.

That would be called leftovers, which would mean there's no dinner for me or Ally to eat the next day.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I don't really see the causal link there. Why would a packed lunch you make the night before school be called leftovers?

I went to a restaurant with some colleagues last night, and I ate too much. Couldn't sleep and I'm still full and feeling half sick, and on my way to work. That's what "The Incredible Hamburger" creole style does to you I guess.
