Was that in Baltimore? Something like this was on the news here in the Netherlands this morning. That he killed his mother and himself and that he wounded one of the staff.

That was on the news here about eleven hours before you posted, Arenti. But I didn't know it was International now.

Basically, the guy was told that his mother was going to be paralysed for the rest of her life as the result of some surgery, and the man was apparently so upset about he pulled out a gun and shot the doctor, then barricaded himself in his mother's room, shot and killed his mother, and then killed himself. The doctor who was shot was rushed to the OR, and last I heard was expected to survive.

It might have been already on the early news. Three hours before I posted and before that it was night. When I saw it on the news I was like: It can't be that what was mentioned on the forum. Than they said something about the man being unhappy with the treatment for his mother. Than I knew it was really that what was mentioned.

Yeah, it was that incident. I'm sorry if what I said sounded insensitive, but "gallows humor" helped relieve the tension that comes from being told to stay barricaded in your office for 90 minutes while some nutcase with a gun is running around your place of employment. (And in my defense, my post was before anyone was actually KILLED).. now if cantr had actually been UP during that time, I might have had a different venue for my frustrations and impotence. (I guess I should post in the "You know you're addicted to Cantr when..." that "you post jokes about a shooter being motivated by cantr, and are frustrated by your inability to play cantr while someone is firing bullets in your workplace...")

There's nothing wrong with using humor in a bad situation. (unless it gets you killed) See?

See, I got kicked out of school for six weeks 'cause there was an unsubstantiated rumour I said something close to that (about kids at school, though, and wanting them to die). I ended up having to switch schools.
Careful, maho, that shit can bite you in the ass.

I have band to keep me stressed, I think I'll be okay…
I had All-State auditions today, so I think the stress of that will override the stress of Cantr withdrawal efficiently enough to keep me sane. :)

Pfft, you haven't been playing Cantr long enough to develop a true addiction then!

Pfft, you've obviously never been a dedicated band geek! Do you have any idea how painful and difficult it is to march at 180 beats per minute (that's three steps per second, and this year's show involves really large steps compared to last year) for nine minutes straight while trying to remember ninety-six pages of drill as well as watching out for stray underclassmen (and upperclassmen!) forgetting what set they're supposed to be marching, trying not to run in to said stragglers, all while trying to remember and play over four-hundred measures of music? Meanwhile I'm freaking out internally because I have to do it again and again for three hours straight, and that's three hours without Cantr. It's by no means easy, however you look at it.

Ive seen American Pie...I know what you "band geeks" are about....

Seriously though, I know fully well how hard it is, not by personal experience (not band geek-ness that is) and was only joking.

....No. That might be how it was at our school before our current band director got there (a few years before I got to the high school), but definitely not now.

I know full well you were joking; I just enjoy ranting far too much... ;)

Didn't they back the cantr code up?
Or is it just that it's so full of holes that it'll take ages to patch? (no offense, writing safe code isn't an easy task, and you're never done with it :P )
