Proper Role Playing

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

Can people in Cantr roleplay effectively without posting actions or emotions?

I think that roleplaying without actions is a stronger form of RPing because you cannot normally see others' emotions.

I think that they can role play effectively, but it isn't any stronger or weaker than role playing wtih actions.

I don't think that a person can adequatedly role play without expressing emotions or actions.

For your own safety's sake, I suggest you just believe that it is doable in Cantr because Cantrians have the ability to do so. And plus Coding allows for it. :P

ANd yes, to repeat what Sho was saying, its kinda like have an armed crossbow and just poking forward, barely pricking the skin, spilling at the most, a bubble of blood.

Plus, I think in roleplay, roleplay in concept tends to be lenient in imagination, to how I understand it. Its acting.

Obviously none of you ever shot bow before but anyways Cantr is suppose to be much like our world. What we can't do in the real world applies to our characters. I know we can't do everything that we can do in the real world yet but remember that Cantr is a work in progress. Someday though...

Yeah, it's pretty impossible to shoot yourself with a bow...but hey... Cantr is different... I dunno if it'll change or not.

But maybe someone in programming can  make it impossible  to shoot oneself with a bow  . I know someone that probably could do that.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, but I think that there should be options for basic actions. I detest the way some people roleplay, and everything they say is basically a roleplay... They sit there describing how their character is arrogant and crap. That makes you feel like you're talking to the person behind the character rather than the character.

Shoot straight up and adjust a little for wind and air friction effects.

Yes, I have shot bow when I was younger, no, I have never actually shot myself to prove my point.

my personal opinion, roleplaying actions adds to a situation, but should be limited to what others can see, so saying someone "thinks" something wouldn't be right, but saying they look unhappy would be.

(right in terms of only saying what others can see)
