Re: The I AM thread...
I am:
Searching for that person I met. I think I've given up and am going back to where I found them.
Sitting here, sleepy and unable to wake enough to go forth with my decision now that he's arrived.
Lost in my sea of delusion, and sometimes incoherence, but still content, even if that thing is outside.
Mostly content, though I still can't believe he did that. Why would anyone do that? I guess it made a decision for me, but that was extreme. I've been told it was also manipulative, but I am not sure.
Definitely not sitting around anymore. Walking, walking, lots of walking! But I'm grateful for newfound friendships that are leading me new places.
Doing something I've never done before! This little trip is kind of fun!

Re: The I AM thread...
Just a friendly reminder: Please note that the four day rule apply to this topic, just as it does anywhere outside of the game itself. That means that you are not allowed to write about events that are less than four days old. If the events are still ongoing it's a bad idea to write something with too much details about it, even after four days have passed.
Thanks!
Thanks!

And another reminder: I Ams are supposed to be vague enough that people can't figure out who you play. Whenever someone reveals something obvious that we think people shouldn't know, it leads to discussions about shutting this thread down. I Ams are a peep-show, not a lap dance.

Thats also the reason I don't really read this thread anymore. As I sometimes read something I didn't want to know.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

I am: (activity edition
)
- breaking locks outside, so I can have my eye on flowers and honey
- smashing people with a pillow (and doing this and that, but not as important as the pillow thing)
- digging for silver and hunting for furries
- making a kiln. Not as funny as pumping oil, but still ok.
- doing this and that when I'm not practicing for the Festival
- helping to make a lot of cotton clothing. Poor guy...
- making motorcycle parts. The bussiness is developing well, it seems (yay?)
- traveling, gathering, traveling again...
I don't really mind people knowing mine, and it's kind of funny to find out who-plays-who. And sometimes reading the I-ams for the characters I already know is fun, too.
Anyway, any upsets caused by reading this thread (aside of 4-day rule breaches) count as a self-inflicted damage.
Comming next: animal edition! (don't ask
)

Re: The I AM thread. (The 4-day rule applies!)
Doug and Echoman, (particularly Doug's post), a lot of forum culture revolves around discovering the player of certain characters, for a myriad of reasons (not inc. cheating of course).. I noticed you said people should be vague to a point that characters cant be figured out. Why is it not okay for a player to express who they are here, but it IS okay for them to express who they are in the "Characters you'd like to know who their players are" thread???????
Additionally, that isn't a rule that was stated when the thread started, and I don't know why we have to be vague. Most of the posts in this thread aren't vague. Obviously saying 'I am Bob Smith' is wrong, but saying 'I am a carpenter in a busy shore town that just got attacked' is not, imo.
Unless this is a new rule, I respect your 'authoritah' and will eat my words if so.

4-day rule, and an effort to prevent CRB, we cannot discuss events happening ingame. While a lot of people value anonymity, this can't be enforced. Revealing who a character's player is... isn't against the rules (I don't think)

Huh? Again Natso please read my posts before replying, you've done this twice before. I honestly don't care if you're tired or not.. just don't post if you're tired. What relevance does your little speel about 4-day rule have? I'm not talking about that.. I'm talking about having to be vague about 'I ams'. Obviously don't mention information that has occured within 4 days.

This thread is revealing about a player's characters. Characters are involved with ingame events. So, ingame events bleed out into the posts in this thread. Too much information revealed, would violate the 4-day rule.

Re: The I AM thread. (The 4-day rule applies!)
Probably because in the I am thread, it sometimes gives you an idea of what their character is up to or feeling. In the other thread, you might find out who plays it, but it doesn't publicly display any hints of what they're up to (or shouldn't). It's more about keeping IG things IG.
It probably shouldn't read "vague enough to keep people from knowing who you are" but rather "keep it vague enough to not indicate specific IG events, etc.", because if a player wants to disclose who they play, then it's really up to them.
And revealing a character's player is only against the rules if they do not give permission for it to be revealed.

It's not a rule, but a good excuse for shutting this thread down if we ever wanted to, which we get closer and closer to doing every time someone breaches the 4-day rule. I'm just saying. It's different than the other thread you cite, which reveals players but not character motives. This thread, in some cases, does both, which is the evil double-whammy that leads to lots of grief and PD reports. We just had a case where the player alleged that his entire town turned on his character after he posted here.
So, do what you want, but be on notice that this thread is on thin-ice.

Moderated: If you don't have anything to add to the discussion, that couldn't be interpreted as a rule breach, please refrain from posting.

I did it cuz I hate you.

What prompted this discussion? Was my last post on this thread bad?
