I can't rename a location!

Yeah so a few Cantr years ago, I couldn't name the location Xiria. I returned a few days ago, and still can't rename it to Xiria, or change it at all. It remains as 'unnamed location'.

Any assistance?

This reminds me I was supposed to stop this from happening... Should look into it during the weekend. Also there were four locations named <CANTR_CHARDESC> so I renamed them to unnamed location.

What? No this problem is different..

the location is 'unnamed location' and I am unnable to change it. It's not blank or anything.. I click it, type in what I want, and it goes to the Events page, unchanged.

When I first noticed it, it was happening with a couple of other towns too.. but I have no idea where they are or if my character is still around them.

Hmm, the only odd thing about Xiria naming is that one is by a character that doesn't exist. All the other entries seem normal, they say Xiria, this one said (blank) which I fixed things to the first time around when people were having problems with unchangable names. I don't know how common unused character ids are after dead characters started being stored in with the living. Of course it would help knowing which character is having the problem here so that it can be looked into.

Ah, I see, for some reason it had gotten naming Xiria and someone named Desmond mixed up, so you had Xiria named as Desmond and it was type 1, which means a person. Most likely it tried to update where observed=the id of Xiria and type=2, a combination which didn't exist. But for some reason it assumed that you already had the location named since otherwise it would've used an insert query instead of update. Maybe it only checks if there's an entry with the id of the target but doesn't take the type into account, since the type field was only added after the script was first written so someone may have forgotten to take that into account. As for why it would get Xiria and Desmond mixed up in the first place, that's more of a mystery.
