I know a company that had shares. Some company official had the record of all shares, and every owner had a receipt of the shares he or she owned in the company. I don't know what happened with it in the end (I quit Cantr at that time) but I found a receipt not long ago with one of my new chars.

Returner is right, you can forge sealed envelopes.

The argument of forging coins has been brought up at least twice but how can you claim that coins are fakeable when coin press names are unique? It's impossible to build another coin press that would print the exact same text as another one, you would have to change at least one letter, or convince someone that a coin with an alternative text is also valid. And maybe Natso meant envelopes sealed with an actual seal object, which are also unique.

I don't know about coins. But you CAN forge a seal. I can PM you and tell you how, if you really don't know.

If you mean changing your name and using the seal button then yeah, anyone could do that, but I meant the seal object. Although it looks like there are four in the game with NULL for a name so at least the database doesn't force names to be unique, but I assume the code does, otherwise it would be a bit useless. There are only 28 seals in the game so if people haven't heard about them, no wonder. It requires sealing wax that's made of bitumen and beeswax, and bitumen I guess isn't found on the English region, although it can be made out of oil, but oil is also not all that common.

If your autocrat goes to sleep, the town isn't going to drag him off and murder him.

This has happened to two of my characters. In one case my character was just their partner, though my character probably wouldn't of died because he started to regret it and I'm very persuading since I try to create near perfect human beings as characters (perhaps that's bad roleplay, but oh well; they do have different interests). But his intentionally evil lackie killed my character before he was able to see many words. I try very hard to make it so that people don't feel like I'm holding them back, or that they'll gain money or power by my death. That way I'm less likely to die. What it really takes is convincing them not that they would benefit by staying in the town, and that they can pursue their ambitions, and that my character is simply extra help, and then, as if suddenly, what they're convinced of is the truth.

About coins, the most successful use of them I've seen is with T&T. They have a specified value for resources and it has worked since before my time. This is different than having virtually everything traded by coins and not just for vehicles, but it's certainly inspiring. But why again would it be more efficient to use coins? I don't think distance bonuses in coins would be too hard to add to the system, but isn't it more efficient to trade resource for resource? What's used instead of coins many times is iron or steel. It's easy to carry and very useful.
