A cut above the rest

Postby CrazyBev » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:32 am

So I am new to the whole forum thing so please bare with me. My idea was something along the lines of different cuts of meat, or at least, being able to decide how you want your recent kill chopped up. I don't know much about programming but I was thinking something along the lines of:

You expertly killed a moose.

Do you want to dissect?
() Yes
() No

(X) Yes:
You efficiently cut the meat into:
120g Chuck
200g Rib
400g Flank
187g Shank
130g Brisket

(X) No
You obtain 1840g of meat.

Now you dont just get the meat for free, obviously. You need a knife and maybe an hour or 2 of a project that is cutting up the original meat. Now that's just the basic idea, but it could be expanded upon or changed. But essentially different kinds of meats could yield different meals, some of which would have better/lower consumption rates. Ex- a rib-eye and a baked potato. Maybe even another harvesting/hunting skill, that higher proficiency yields more meat. It might be too in depth, but it was just something I thought of. Also I tried to see if this was already suggested but couldn't find anything so I posted. Also-also if this is in the wrong area please feel free to move or whatnot. Thanks for your time and comments.

Edited out off-topic nonsense.

It's certainly a unique idea, but I think the game would have to advance a lot more to make getting into such detail useful. For starters, we'd need to redesign the machine project menus to allow for more projects (the cluttering of the menus of popular machines is what keeps most new projects out of the game, and is what is partially responsible for the addition of new machines to accommodate suggestions we really like without cluttering the old machines, a process that doesn't make much sense but we do it because it's within RD's control.)

If hunting ever becomes a project, butchering could find it's way into the game.

Seems a bit over the top complicated, I think meats just fine im not sure this adds anything to the game.
