I've noticed a trend of newbies starting clothing projects even though they don't have the resources for them, or sometimes not adding the resources even if the resources were present, so the interface is most likely confusing. When you think about it, does it actually say that you're supposed to add the resources after you click on that link that starts the project? I don't think it does. So when a newbie starts a clothing project, they get directed to their inventory, which in most cases doesn't have the required resources and might also have the wrong tab open so that they're not seeing the necessary resources. From their perspective nothing happened. Nothing tells them that a new project has been created and it can be found on their activities page. They most likely visited the activities page earlier before trying the manufacture clothes button and found it empty. Smart ones might click the search button and find something.
The coolest way to do things would be to allow adding resources automatically like other manufacturing projects do, but if that's too difficult to arrange, the next best option would be something that says "Okay, the project has been set up, now it needs to have the materials added". But the only way to make messages appear like that currently is by using error messages (ugly and glaring) so the next best option would be to just alter the contents of the translation tag that currently says "You can select a clothes item to manufacture below." It could say something like "You can select an article of clothing to manufacture from the following list. Note that in order to actually produce an item, you must have the necessary materials and tools listed in the requirements." Newbies might actually read the info text while others would just ignore it like they ignore the current text, and it would be much simpler to implement than the other options mentioned above. It could also mention that cotton does not equal cotton cloth and wool does not equal wool cloth since that seems to be vague to a lot of newbies, but others might get a "well duhh" feeling seeing it spelled out.
