Weapon Effectiveness

Postby Mavsfan911 » Thu Apr 22, 2004 3:42 am

I heard this was going to be put into the newer version, but just checking.
When you're hunting animals, none of the weapon's vary. Example: You can hit a deer with a sword for 35 damage...I know Cantr isnt RL but it is nearly impossible to hit a deer with a sword in RL. Rabbits may be easier to hit with hand weapon, and alot of the slower animals, but deer. I think the damage you hit when hunting an animal should depend on what weapon you use.
I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

i still like the idea of a hunting project where all ya need is a hunting bow and in a day ya get a kill. just maybe not of the animal you wanted but a kill is a kill.
and knowing my luck i'd get bloody pidgeon's and rabbit's everytime grrrr

Yeah, I like Meh's idea for hunting too. I also agree with the effectiveness of weapons verses different things. But that would be a lot of work, having to put in how much damage it might do against each weapon type for every animal put into the game...

Ya. it's not like you can just walk up to a dear and hit it with your sword. it'll run away. the only thing that makes sense is a distance weapon of some kind.

Actually, experienced stalkers can get almost within arm's length of a deer sometimes...and we're also talking about animals with no fear, since they seem to have no problem attacking people regularly. So Cantr deer should be remarkably easy to hit.

Yeah. Aslo, when some animal attacks and you block it with your iron shield, well, why should that animal not suffer the consequences from bumping it's head against a metal disc?

803-4 You are attacked by a horse, you save 30% using your iron shield, the horse suffers a severe headache and loses 10% strength.

i've snuck up on roo's before and gotting well within a range where i could throw an axe at them with a great chance of taking a leg out but it took me about an hour to go(i used to get bored on the farm ok) i couldn't just walk up to it. i think any wild animal will naturally move away from someone walking up to it and cantr deer would be very iffy about people now seeing as they've been hunted near to exstintion enough times.

I've pet deer in my lifetime. Note that the deer were most likely tamed since it was just in a campground. The deer came right up one to many feedings if you ask me, but I like to see all animals in cantr as fearless. They seem to attack whoever they feel like weathe rprovoked or not. Perhaps all that deer see is 15 humans with a little attack button next to them.

Before there were guns, the American Indian used to chase deer until they were too exhausted to run and then slay them with a knife.

yeah but it took a bit longer then looking up and killing the thing. that why hunting should e a project not just something to do cause your logged in. i like the hidden animal idea of aswell.so the hunting project is to hunt them. the ones you can see are fair game to hunting as we know it now of course

What kill the American Indian that's terrible, just because they couldn't catch a deer.

On topic, what about leaving traps? Leave food on the floor, lie under a pile of mud, them WHAM. The deer is dead.

Salt. Those towns with salt should be covered in deer and horses.
