Thank god. I hate it when people are annoyed at me for bad RP.

I think FTO's very good, then again, I'm an adapter... I figured out most of the user-(un)friendliness issues brought up here on my own and mostly immediately or very quickly. (food system:immediate, identifying/naming chars: a minute or two)
I wasn't bothered by the wait time either, then again, most of the time I was waiting was while I was (and I still am) deployed, therefore I didn't have the wait in my face. My only gripe was I didn't get an email at birth like I was given the impression you're supposed to, and which I was mostly relying upon to let me know to immediately log in. Luckily, I logged in anyways as a double check and line # update to find I'd been born as one of a pair of twins.
I have to say "oh my" at most cantrians being vocal in this thread being a furry of some sort or another. My charrie's description fits a more "classic" fantasy race, my only worry there is twofold: other races being pushed xeno by their players' ooc dislike of they're being a species they consider "overdone" in FTO instead of original, or players who are born to that race that immediately assume everything about that race via OOC knowledge/bias.
My response to those people: Just because it looks like something you recognize from other fantasy, doesn't mean that the race is going to be called that/act like that in FTO. Give "classic" descriptions the freedom to be what they will instead of forcing them to be your preset "dwarves, elves, goblins, and orcs." That's my two cents on THAT matter.
My charrie is about a year old, his twin is active as is he. They have a couple sets of siblings which may also be twins. All in all, I'm having a good old time, having rp'd teething and learning to walk, now I've even said my first words, directed at my char's father to let him know my char is hungry.
EDIT: *Steals his computer background back from Wiro's sig* MINE!

The freedom to be completely insane, also to lose the game.

I heard in IRC someone talking about the description of a race being "blah blah blah... they tend to be nomadic and live in small groups" or something lik that. Well, that seems to me to be pretty much forcing preconcieved notions about how that race will develop as a society onto the players. Shouldn't the description only hold physical attributes of the race, and allow them to develop their own cultures?
Maybe I should take this to the FTO forum...

I think it did. Lumin was marketing it as a completely fresh world, blank slate. Where the players would create the entire world, society, etc. If that's what he was selling it as to all of the players, then there is no reason for him to be telling races how they should behave. I know he discussed it in the thread of how he basically has "plans" for those things but even then, it just goes against what he initially promised.

IT's not a plan. I think of it as a few nice guidelines. You don't have to follow them, but you can if you want to. Therefore.

You can have a defined race and still create your own society, amirite?
I see he's since changed it after joo's thread, so it only describes physical features now.

That stupid -baby- talking better than those of us who are three and four is making me not want to play FTO today. Honestly, there are like 6 others within the ages of 1-4 who actually bother, why can't this guy? It's. Not. That. Hard. You. *Censored*.
