It's meant to be absurd. According to KoL wiki "Diamond being "one of the hardest metals known the man" is taken from a particularly stupid GameFAQs post that went on to become a meme." The rest is just expanding on that.

It's like saying "if X is Y and Z is A then how much is the fish at B market?" The answer is C pounds because a car has four wheels. Or because there are three pancakes in the fridge. In any case all arguments must be given basis (even if the basis was completely irrelevant, and in the case of X and Z being unrelated to each other, you can only offer an unrelated argument).
