...but just what is the difference, dear slayer? Perhaps I'm one of the strange ones, but I think "games" like this have a lot of real world value, aren't actually a "game" in the typical sense and delve a lot deeper into the psyche than most realise.

hehe.......try telling that to them. for a while i managed to persuade them that it helps me hone my skills as a creative writer and for a while it worked......but that got old.

besides, i disagree with you. sort of. cantr doesn't help a person learn how to interact with others in RL. HOWEVER. it HAS vastly improved my debating skills as i also enjoy arguing over things that piss me off. like the news. i've also had politicians, which most people probably found annoying

 I'm 'allowed' to play for similar reasons that playerslayer is NOT.

Because of my natural 'detatchment' ANYTHING that encourages ANY form of interaction is NOT ONLY encouraged but, if need be, actually gotten for me.

Its slowly working but... Dudel is still very much not attached to his characters. Only thing that keeps me from clicking THAT X is the amount of RL time that I've put into the game. OH and its free! :D

Don't feel bad playerslayer! Dudel is a 'mama's boy' as well. Difference is reasons, I do NOT feal I could function very well by myself. Actually I KNOW that to be true. Similar issues as you there pal. WORK AT IT AND BE WELL!

I don't see a reason for the options to be dichotomized into "leave home" or "act exclusively (or ultimately) as my mother wills me to, against my better judgment (ie exercise of thought, ie consciousness, ie self)".

Mild autism (which I'm guessing is far more than whatever your condition is) can and does allow for independent functionality, though. Plenty of 'em out there holding jobs and paying bills and living life.

On a personal rant, I wish this damn redhead would gather up the courage to go against her social role and make the first move. God knows I like to be the prey.

Not the point I was going for at all - I agree with you completely. Every minute spent on cantr could be spent off interacting with people away from a keyboard.. so clearly it does the opposite and very effectively.

My point of "games" (I loathe calling them that, but for want of a better term) like Cantr having real world value is more in terms of giving you a safe (i.e. anonymous) arena in which you can test out aspects of your personality (that you may not even be consciously aware of), by way of roleplaying, with no penalty.

yeah i'm a strange child. Joo has been on the list for quite some time, mostly cause he's funny as hell. Mikki's flirtatious nature is hillarious. and i think Seko is pretty cool as well.

helps to have a diversity of friends/people i like.

well for now i am tired ( and not carefully chosing my words as i type, hence Dudels confusion on my last post ) so i'll just continue this topic tommorow morning, but i think i understand what you are saying.

i guess it doesn't help that i've been in SPED classes all my miserable life and never got to meet the right kind of friends. i only met one kid in school that i liked. as for the rest......well, i'm usually anti social, so i don't know if it was them or just me. some were punks, others were way too flaky. there were some normal kids in my classes but everyone leads different lives and we just never hung out much.

Wait, I got confused?

Umm... well its rare that I actually DISLIKE someone but there are exceptions. Couple of those I've VERY OPENLY stated others, not so much. Only TWO people on these forums that 'irk' me and one of them I've openly attacked.

My comment was something like, "Those people are cool in my book too!"
