Fff...
I've just checked the suggestions forum for the first time in months, and wondered what this was for, then saw all of this geezer's posts...
You're lucky I hadn't seen them before...
Almost every single one of them is screaming for the 'list all the other threads suggesting the same bloody thing a hundred times before, lock thread and move to rejected' treatment.
Seriously, learn to
Search
before hand.
Are you blind, did you not see the RULES ABOUT POSTING SUGGESTIONS announcement at the top of this forum? Which has two, very simple rules:
Moreover, some helpful soul has even posted Tips on searching for previous suggestions to help you. How kind of them.
Inability to read and pay attention, much?
Also, welcome to the game.

* Do not put multiple suggestions in one thread - it makes organisation of the forum impossible.
* Search the forum for existing suggestions before adding a new one.

Well some of them are duplicates, especially my earlier ideas. Some of those duplicate ideas received some support and little criticism, yet the dicussion just drifted to the bottom of the pile.
Some of the ideas are unique.
In future, Ill be more careful with the search button. (I did survey the list)
I do note however, how ....well.....rude people are when both offering criticisms and stating that the idea is duplicate. If you behaved like this in RL, some of you wouldnt have many freinds! Its not hard to state the same thing politely.
If you dont like the thread the smartest thing to do would be to not respond to it, then it will simply drift to the bottom. Responding to all of them, and starting a seperate thread about those threads simply brings them to the top, which for whatever reason, seems to be the thing people dont like, right?
Surely you can simply read something else instead .... Just scroll down, or up....
Anyways...
Oh and as for merging them all, well thats against forum guidelines, they have to be seperate.
One suggestion a week?, I had no idea people found suggestions so irritating, or didnt like seeing multiple posts by one person. I mean really, I cant post two suggestions if there both unique? That seems kinda weird to me....

No, people don't mind reading multiple suggestions from users, its the quantity of duplicates that bugs. We're allowed to respond and critisize, 'tis the point of this forum.
We don't, we just find the high number of duplicates, as well as the tendency for some suggestions to be way off of what cantr is supposed to be about, and the general lack of knowledge about what is implemented in game, or HOW already existing systems are implementing irritating. Also the fact that along with some suggestions being waaay off what Jos set out for Cantr to be like, you tend to not like to hear anyone else's criticism about said suggestions, no matter how small, and tend to have the answer "it will be simple to code" when we all know its not, and progD has other priorities anyways atm.One suggestion a week?, I had no idea people found suggestions so irritating,
Sure, if they're unique, and make sense. And stick with the general idea of the kind of game Cantr developers set out to acheive.or didnt like seeing multiple posts by one person. I mean really, I cant post two suggestions if there both unique? That seems kinda weird to me....
EDIT:Drael, this is not a flame post. I'm just saying be more open to issues people find with your ideas, and take it with a grain of salt, not personally.. Working it out amongst each other (the problems with them I mean) tends to lead to better, more complete ideas down the road.

If its polite, I have no problem with it. But why just criticise, isnt it more useful to also offer alternatives, or discuss the thing?

Well its based on SQL right?, which ive coded in the past. Im no expert, but I do have a good understanding of how coding works.
As for whether its in the spirit of the game, thats opinion really. I think most of my ideas have been in the spirit of the game. I dont think everyones vision is exactly the same there anyway.
I dont want an argument there, so whatever your opinion is, thats fine.
All Im really saying is that these small things irritating people so much they are rather rude to new comers isnt really an excuse for bad manners. Is it?
My ideas dont have to be accepted, Id just prefer if people were civil, which they havent all been.
Criticism can be constructive, and it can be phrased politely. Thats all.

People won't always have alternatives Drael, they'll just know that there are issues with it, but don't see a way around it. That's why there are so many of us around here, so hopefully -someone- does.Drael wrote:If its polite, I have no problem with it. Exactly. Not everyone is always going to agree with everything everyone else says.As for whether its in the spirit of the game, thats opinion really. I think most of my ideas have been in the spirit of the game. I dont think everyones vision is exactly the same there anyway.
.
I'm sorry if we come off as rude, but it's not just a "irritated by newcomers thing". If you read some past posts, generally people in here are equally rude to anybody who's suggestion they don't think will work. Again, sorry.
