Getting Rid of the Cantr Wiki

Postby mikejacobs14 » Sun Nov 23, 2008 6:26 am

I propose that to stimulate the games excitement, we should take off the Wiki for it ruins the game when you know what is required for everything and what materials are required et cetera. It will also add more variations to trading because it is likely the person does not know how much it takes to gather a certain resource. Doing this will motivate players to find out information concerning on a particular thing, will make new players curious making them more likely to stay because they want to know what does this game have hidden.

If moderators are hesitant, they can just do a time trial of lets say 5 weeks and see what the reaction is to the missing wiki. It will not take much effort to take and put back the Wiki so I say we give this idea a try.

This is a very commplex subject. There are ig guides to manufacturing, weapon strength, healing food values, etc, and it would be ideal if these were used as a source of such information. Problem is, the changes that have been made over the years, meaning these are often inaccurate.
I believe the reason for the wiki was that established players got sick of newspawns asking the same questions, over and over... so they didn't answer... so the newspawns gave up playing...
Things have totally changed with this, and location names, since I started playing. You can rationalise it thus: The first 20 years of pre-spawning might be spent by the chars learning about the world. Once upon a time they learned geography, and the names of everything. Now they learn how to make things.

i agree with tiddy. to me if we didnt have the wiki when i started, i would have quit from extreme confusion
When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.
As you can see, the Jedi are hypocrites.

I have to second your thought, trexdino. If the wiki goes, I would just be too frustrated. A wiki may allow me to see some facts, but without it, I'd just be trying to figure out what went with what (only to forget again) and have no energy nor inclination for role play. RP is the reason I play. If I spend all my time trying to remember how many grams it takes to make thus-and-so...it's not worth it.
