Personaly, I've tried to RP as much as it was possible without a threat for my pirate's plans - sharing fun with other people is a great thing, but, then, having fun just on your own is still better than no fun at all :)

All the pirates that did that to my characters are not here anymore to tell their stories...

...you see, as there are silent pirates that strike without a word, there are also some that pray so those pirates may come to them.

How great it is to silently chase pirates and catch them off guard!!!!

Oh boy! I've chasen some and... the thrill it was to slit their throats! Even better... to do so while they watch their own venom killing them!!!

 8)

Please don't despair, my friend...

Once I've felt the same way as you do. Now I realized that those pirates gave me the most fulfilling goal I ever thought possible to have.

I just love chasing them. Obviously... I also love to make them pay. Even better... I love to see them disturbed by the fact of being caught by a "sleeper"!!!!

I simply strike and have no mercy! None at all...

They don't deserve it.

P.S. - The more you hunt the more you are able to hunt!

There should be more pirates. My characters haven't heard of anything lately.

You haven't spent long enough in Polish waters then. Although i have heard stories of some English zone pirates.
The problem is that often acts of piracy aren't viewed as being so. Liberators for example; they're basically pirates.

One of my characters is a pirate, a very successful one at that...

Theon Stark wrote:Just wondering how many people have played as a pirate?

Has everyone gone in for a bit of piracy once or twice with a charrie or 2? Or is it just a few people playing all the pirates and causing all the grief?

A couple of my charries have had recent run in's with pirates, and none of them have been "good" ones. i know being pirated is generally not a good thing but there's the good interaction with a bit of RP, maybe a chase, some turmoil and such. Generally annoying, but done right can actually add to the game.

Then theres the pirates who come on land, hit everyone, kill people, kidnap people and steal everything without a word. I get really wound up and angry at this. Players spend months and years investing time and effort into charachters only to see it all wiped out in seconds, and this makes me consider quitting the game, because whats the point.

Its a game, its supposed to be fun. Having months of your game life wiped out on the whim of another player who doesn't seem to really give a fig about the game and is just interested in killing and pillaging isn't fun.

But what can we do about it.

You have a point, but if there where no pirates, thieves and killers there wouldn't be any laws, which means no guards, no security and no jail cells or prisons, and that means less rp, less jobs etc.

I doubt pirates would come in and start RPing while they rob you. I'm sure they'd just get down to business without the "hey I'm going to kill you." I mean some actions (the *') would be nice once theres some time since in cantr pirates need to be speedy.

You can write stuff in advance and copypaste them right as you spring into action, but once you've lost the element of surprise, any delay is deadly.

They need to be fast pretty much everywhere. I don't know any famous pirate who used to chat with hostages while waiting the Navy to come.

You haven't met the right pirates it seems :)

All depends on how you hit, the advantage you hold over them and how to work it to your advantage. It doesn't have to always be hit and run.

They need to be fast pretty much everywhere. I don't know any famous pirate who used to chat with hostages while waiting the Navy to come.

Heh, they're around. and there are a few who do. Not famous yet, but did this very thing just recently. Great rp in the meantime. There are some out there who do it for the rp and not specifically for the loot and to kill.

There was a pirate a long time ago, a great man who unfortunately was caught, but he was so feared he could demand towns to leave X amount of a resource in there Coaster harbor or else.

I bet they're still wondering what happened with the leader and why the hell all storages' locks are opened

Might want to revise this now :: points to dead character thread ::

I been RPing a pirate for a bit now. I take the time to do a little RPing once all the sneakiness is done. But for the most part it seems the captives don't respond in kind. It's been many a charrie what could have been saved if they had only Rped back.

I noticed a lot of people on this thread complaining about lack of pirate RPing, but would they QQ any less if the pirate had RPed? No one likes to have a cherrie killed but without that lingering fear in the back of yer head there's no flair in life. I mean you always have to kill one or two just to show the rest you mean business. That doesn't mean the surviving people can't RP a little to save their lives.

Not all of my captives have been lame RPers, there was one great captive. He even made it out alive. Just that one though.

A life in Cantr apparently isn't valuable enough to put the effort in after you (and your village) are robbed by pirates. After all, you have 15 lives, don't you? And even then, you can always start a new life after one of your chars died, so why bother about a char whose life has been broken by piracy?

I think (a) life should become more precious, more valuable in Cantr. So players will do their best to preserve it.

But if you have the full fifteen charries and one dies if they have been around for any amount of time they will block the slot for quite some time.
