Head Decapitation

Postby mikejacobs14 » Sat May 24, 2008 11:37 pm

I was just thinking bout how you cannot carry the body because it is too heavy, then why don't we have the option to sever the head and put it within the inventory, the head will be recognizable by anyone who met him before and yea. I was thinking of using decapitated heads as trophies or as a sign that you have killed that person so they don't doubt your word and you should have the option to display the head

This is a duplicate suggestion.

Why wasn't it accepted before? It could be a nice suggestion, 'specially for the MacGregors.

Most likely because there is no programmer who would have time to add it. Generally the character id should be attached to the head, which would be a new object, and maybe the body would stop displaying dynamic names and only reflect the name and gender.

Like "you see a decapitated female body, formerly in her twenties"? I'm not sure if it is necessary to leave a body. Just make it a short project like burying, yielding a head. The rest of the body would be buried sooner or later anyway so I guess we can skip that step.

Or are there people out there who would keep the body? Like, "Finally we got that bastard. Do you want the head or the tail?"

Well headless corpses would be good for scaring people, and also if there was a "headless corpse of a man in his twenties", that would carry a different message than just a regular un-mutilated corpse. Besides, you should be able to cut off the head while indoors and there you can't bury corpses. If you for example killed a criminal inside a prison but couldn't drag out the corpse and needed to prove others that the prisoner is dead, and couldn't open the door because other prisoners could get away and couldn't borrow the key to others because you're too paranoid, then it would be useful if you could cut off the head and take it outside. :)

I think you would just have to do some tweaking to the object dead bodies. Dead bodies already keep the dynamic names, so I think it could be programmed using the same code. It would just add more to the database though.

Perhaps when someone dies, there should be a drop of meat, bones, dung, and hide. There would still be a corpse, but it would be much lighter than 60k. If you want to follow the gruesome feel of this thread, you could make some or all of the materials dropped identifiably human: human meat, human skin, etc. Then some people would make clothes out of human skin, cook and eat human meat, and so on.

That has also been suggested and the stuff should certainly stay on the corpse like clothes, and you would have to remove it manually.

I like the idea of decapitiation, but it should require specialised tools, so not just any newspawn can start decapitating random corpses - which would cause decapitated bodies and heads to become commonplace and boring.

Specialized tools? Like a portable guillotine? It could get hard to explain to people why a sword perfectly well suited for slicing and dicing could not be used to sever a head. Everything with a sharp edge should be suitable in my opinion.
